Here's my guesses. I have XFW maxed, Nick Fury at 5/1/5 and nothing else I use regularly.

Prof. X -- with the right teammates he is a beast
Jean Gray -- Prof. X killer and massive damage
Iceman -- massive damage + great stun
Deadpool -- those purple CDs are a killer
Kingpin
Cyclops
Hulkbuster
Red Hulk

a gap in quality here

Carnage -- big damage but not sustainable
Sam (Cap)
XFW -- great with mags + loki
Jane Thor
Nick Fury
The Thing -- goes well with 4* deadpool
Ant-Man
Mr. Fantastic
Elektra
Star-Lord
Invisible Woman -- although invisibility is great
