I told you that you overbuffed Thor in your "nerf patch"

That image link above is me sitting at #1 in your tourney. It'll go up and down but how did I do this? Because I was RIGHT and Thor/Storm is so easy and broken since your patch that it makes matches run by themselves effortlessly and without cost to the players wallet to win. And now most of the top teams are using just what I told them would win...Thor/Storm

I told you that the best way to patch Thor would simply be to change his colors so he couldn't act as a battery for green users. Instead you thought nerfing his damage and INCREASING his green battery utilty would help. The second you did that I told everyone on Neogaf, Steam, and your own boards that you just made Storm/Thor the most powerful thing in the game.

Why are they so powerful? Because I knew that if you started with any AP boosts towards red, yellow, and especially green you'd be within a turn or two of NEVER ENDING YOUR TURN. I taught folks how to do this and it works.

Use Thor Red to do some damage and get some more yellow (some possibility of cascades or extra turns)

Then Use that to quickly get Thor's yellow ability to fire to do some damage and yield a TON of green (almost always resulting in cascades and extra turns)

This yields so much green that the BEST BATTERY IN THE GAME ie STORM gets to use her green ability and clear 16 tiles form the board. This means that with all that leftover green/yellow on the board that she always gets cascades, almost always gets extra turns, and invariably yields back a TON of yellow and green meaning she almost always ends up with enough fuel to try and keep the sequence running.

If you are in the desert and can use Storm's cheap red ability to clear environmental tiles its guaranteed unbeatable as that instantly tends to give her the "oasis" ability to put 6 green on the board to generate those massive battery moments even faster. I did over 9000 damage in one series without ever ending my turn killing a full health Thor and Daredevil earlier and my turn STILL had so much fuel it was nowhere near ending.

I suggest you reduce Thor's yellow ability to yielding only 5 green tiles and increase its damage slightly to stifle this setup long enough for folks to fight back. That or outright change the color of Storm's Green ability to something Thor can't generate like Purple or switch it for her Black. Black is the easiest route but Purple also means you couldn't use her effectively with Widow tactics so take your pick. Personally Widow/Storm is so frail that I feel its a non-issue so I say make the regular storm's green ability swap colors with her black ability and make Classic storm's green ability also a black ability.

Please listen to me on this because you should know that if I combine Daken with Storm/Thor his passive green ability combined with super green creating/popping Thor/Storm means that pre-patch Wolverine was a JOKE compared to all the Strike tiles he lays down. If Storm's battery color is changed to something Thor can't generate though it makes the Thor/Daken matchup manageable as it take a lot more to get greens out there for Daken.

DO NOT MAKE MASSIVE GREEN BATTERIES. Too many other passive and battery characters can abuse that.

Thank you for your time.

  • You're right, they went about the nerf wrong. Put the yellow back at 2000 damage but make it drop somewhere between 3 and 5 greens. Maybe make it cost 13. They looked at him as generating green for himself, in which case the nerf would have completely ruined him, but didn't realize how cheap he could be with others.

Im more inclined to just swap the Colors Storm uses than to give Thor a 2K move that costs twelve he can generate his own Yellow for at the cost of very little Red. Still if they do decide the way to fix this problem is to nerf Thor's green output then he will need a buff to his yellow damage to compensate for that.
  • Guess they also overbuffed IM35, as we could snapshot a ton of rosters with him on top in #1 position of same tournament.

It only proves some of the tournament design criteria as brain-dead (or outright evil).

As for Thor: how about putting him on no-touch list for some months? And deal with actual hurting problems -- the game is pretty full of those.
  • You..you 'taught' folks that if they start off with AP boosts, use Thor's Red to get his yellow, then his yellow to get green, then you can use another characters green move?

Truly, you are a legend amongst men.

And how much time did you need for that streak of moves? How many moves?

I understand it is highly probable that you will win the way you describe (desert, m.Storm, Thor), but unless it is against a terribly stronger team than yours is, you can maybe do it quicker. And if it is, you spend too much time grinding all those hit points that way to remain on the first place. Or at least it should be so.

Use Daken to fight Daken if the attack tiles are that big a problem.
Also, you might wish to try GSBW together with Thor/Storm, if it's the GREEN that you believe is the problem.
