So is there a reason we don't just play people within out own pool?? It seems like that would fix a lot of the issues people tend to complain about. Plus it would add a level of competitiveness since you would be battling the same people you are trying to pass on the leader-board. I'm sure there's a good reason, but didn't know if this has been asked/answered previously...

  • There's more points available across a broad cross-section of the playerbase.

If the person that's in first shields, you could never really get to them in your system. Because everyone below him would fight amongst each other for the few points that are available.

Because the veteran player in the field would terrorise the newcomers and beat on the until their soft fluffy centres come pouring out and are spread in a pile on the floor. Similar to what my dog does to plush toys.

Apparently that scenario isn't fun for the newcomers and they get to feel that they need to throw money at the game to beat the bullies so they quit. Which harms us all by reducing the total player pool. Whereas in the current model you do we'll in your bracket by doing well against your peers.

Everyone has a chance as long as they aren't drawn in a bracket with Nemek.
