galactus strategy

since the nodes don't reset per round and we are all waiting now...plus the game is down again for me....lets talk galactus strategy. specifically, how did those of you that made it to rd 3 handle it, because it was a whole lot harder than what I saw earlier (not sure if rd 1 or 2). 2 cds per turn multiplies fast - falcon is no longer effective. and my pairing with him (witch/gsbw) did not have time to get going and when they did, the board was peppered with cds/cosmics and I couldn't maximize my green placements. so, fist/black use seems next best? need something fast for sure. speed will trump board shake I think. post your ideas if you like, and aren't too worried about adjustments being made after something successful is found icon_e_wink.gif

Did you try using DP and punisher with someone who can generate red?

Just slice his health down a bit and shoot him in the face.
Also theres a topic for this in the events area, you should check it. Some interesting theories going on in there.

I breezed through round 2 with torch/patch/fist. I'm anticipating that not working as well with 2 countdowns per turn. Although, I never really used berserker rage which would greatly speed things up. I guess I'll see in a few hours when everything unlocks. (Anyone confirmed that the nodes aren't supposed to unlock when your alliance completes a round?)

We are in Round 4 now and in 5 fights, i got 5 wipeouts after getting half of his health, his black ends the match after only 4-5 rounds. So which combo does fastest damage and prevents building up his black AP?
  • I've fought him 11 times during round 5.

Can't remember if I'm on 4 or 5 wins out of the 11 tries.

    Was using Torch/OBW/2*Wolvie

Then switched to Torch/OBW/Fist after reading other threads and realising that Fist's board shake might be worth having even if he was unlikely to live long enough to deal direct damage.

Turns out the board shake is more useful than OBW, who is (surprisingly) too slow!

Run 11 I switched to Torch/Cyke/Fist and forgot to put the boosts on. Still managed to net a win.

Fist's purple and Cyke's yellow are really not to be underestimated for their ability to keep you alive. When you sense the end is next turn (because you've too much blacktile.png to fire Fist's board shake and you've too little yellowtile.png to fire Cyke's) unload all greentile.pngpurpletile.pngblacktile.pngredtile.png AP in that order.
  • I believe this event was created to sell health packs.
I've found that if you know you are going to die next round, fire off everything you have then retreat/quit the match.
You'll receive all the point you took off Galactus plus you wont need to use all those health packs.

I'm relying on Iron Fist/Cyclops/Scarlet Witch, currently in round 5. It does the job more often than not.

I'm onto Galactus round 6. I think I've figured out the best strategy:
Step 1. Find a nice soft pillow.
Step 2. Drop your pants to your ankles.
Step 3. Try to touch your toes.
    Step 4. Bite the pillow.

In round 6 too. After turn 3 comes the knock out, he is better than Mike Tyson in his best times!

In round seven, I won 5 of 6 matches with Hulk/Prof X/GSBW. No cheats, but full boosts (purple/blue, green/black, all colours). It took four health packs.

Right now I'm in round 6 and relying on Hulk, Mohawk Storm and OBW. It's a little tricky since you need to make sure Anger triggers at the right time, but it's working very well so far...

Shh... First rule of working strategy, you don't talk about working strategy.

My alliance and I have found that hulk, juggs, and OBW work well in beating him at almost any stage. Have hulk tank for first round of damage, get lots of greens, use juggs green to wipe the board and get lots of combos, rince and repeat.

I had good luck juggs/obw/hood. Save twin pistols for an emergency.
