Retaliations and scoring

Sorry, just don't see a completely reasonable forum for this (so move if it needs to be elsewhere).

In a recent PvP, I see someone quadruple hit me. My score was somewhere around 490. His first hit he was 2##, then 3##, then 4##, then 540. I'm at 402 now. However, I pull his retaliation up and it shows I will only get 30 for this. I was under the impression that the point differential triggered the score and now with me being lower score, I should be able to get something over 38 instead of the current list of 30? I have zero interest hitting this one back if I'm just going to lay open for some high retal for him.

I checked the retal on the last two hits only. It went from 22 to 30 and was immediately after I got the notification.

The point value listed is stale if they have a higher score than you. I think the game only stores the score they were when they hit you, and only updates the calculation based on your score after battles. This can still leave a stale point value, as the score of the person that hit you can change as well. Were you fighting their retaliation node when it appeared? When you fight a retaliation node, it gives them a retaliation node. This would explain the quadruple tap, as that is quite unusual, especially for that point range. I recommend not fighting any retaliation node where the target is lower score.

the point value in the red node is what the attacker's score was at the time of his hit on you. When/if you hit him back, the point value will probably be different. So it's a toss up if a retaliation is worthwhile or not.

As far as getting hit repeatedly goes, some players don't even look at the target's name. They just look at the point value and try to hit the easiest target for the most points that they can.

If you have a lower tier (1/2*) roster, you may be better off late climbing---make a mad dash within the last hour or half hour of the event. This way, you will avoid being hit due to your low score. And your targets will be worth more. It would be less grief on your part if you late climb.

I don't think this is quite accurate. I believe it is based on the attacker's score when you were notified about the attack. I have noticed that when I get hit overnight and check the retaliation nodes the points tend to be much higher than what would be expected from my loss. I assume this is because they hit me on the way up and when I got the notification their scores were much higher.
