I don't care what y'all say when u b trippin an callin him ****

Manipulation and insult to injury are insanely effective and powerful when going up against spammy characters, and there are certainly plenty of those.

Armed and Dangerous is, well, decent enough. It's a little too expensive and weak, but in a long battle it could come in handy especially if you've already got a few friendly tiles on the board.

He's obviously not in the top tier for anything, but he serves a relatively useful purpose in a few situations. I find him quite good and enjoy using him. I figure most people see him to be just as horrible as quicksilver or sentry, but I don't think he belongs down there with them.

    I am in the middle.

    Op's not entirely wrong.

Doc oc's black is legitimately good (again enemies that make special tiles).

Blue is better after the buff, but still not perfect, except against mostorm or carnage.

Green still isn't really good enough to use unless you are desperate.

So overall it's 1 great passive, 1 decent boardshaker, and one poor aoe. He's situationally useful, but hardly top tier.
  • plz convince everyone to use doc ock in PVP then and I'll agree with you, thanks icon_mrgreen.gif

count me in on OPs side. I love Ock. if i am going against anyone who drops a lot of strike (daken/wolverine), attack (storm/psylocke) or shield (falcon/bullseye/spidey) tiles, you better believe Ock is on my team.

this mainly applies to PVE, but i don't mind using him in PVP so long as i'm running him out with two characters stronger than him.

if he was made into a faster character like beast I'd see him as waaaay better than before

-Make manipulation 8-9 cost, yeah I said it, its a really niche and overpriced version of loki's illusion's with damage, let it be cheaper.

-Let Insult to Injury make the 2nd attack tile at rank 3 but keep it the same damage (rank 3 max level: 2 strength 61 attack tiles)

-Lower Armed and Dangerous' cost to 9 and make it so rank 5 lets it buff the strength of 2 friendly special tiles instead of 1

I would play the hell out of this version of doc ock at 5/3/5

Might have put some ISO into him if the dream team of Scarlet Witch and Deadpool wasn't all the rage.

Nah, Doc Ock definitely sucks. I mean, he's not bad to the point of being unusable, and he's actually not terrible on pve, but then just about any character can be useful on pve.

His main problem is that he's meant to be an anti-special-tile specialist, with a power set that heavily relies on that, but actually don't even do them very well and other characters that aren't even specialists can do them better.

His blue is way too expensive to react to board flooding situations, especially against passive special tile generators like Daken and Dark Avengers Bullseye (whom you'll probably be fighting 80% of the time on pve). At 11AP, you have a very hard time reacting to cheap board flooding abilities like Coercive Field (9AP), Hailstorm (9AP), Berserker Rage (9AP), etc., etc. Collecting 11 blue AP isn't trivial and you might end up in a bad enough board that you can't even pull it off, unless you have a blue accelerator (which is very rare at the 3-star level).

The fact that his blue targets random tiles as well makes it even worse, since you could completely miss the tile(s) that you want to get rid of, especially high-value single tiles like Keep Your Enemy Closer's attack or Sacrifice's strike.

So instead of using Doc's blue, you could just use Daredevil's purple or She-Hulk's blue or even Loki's purple instead, which do very similar things much more AP-efficiently. They are also much better characters than Doc overall.

His black passive is probably his best power IMO, but still rather poor. It depends on the fact that you have to be able to match the enemy tiles in the first place, which isn't always the case when they get spawned in an awkward position. To add insult to injury (hue), it actually clashes with his blue, as special tiles that are destroyed by blue do not trigger black. The passive also only triggers once per move, so even if you match 2 or more enemy special tiles in one move, it only activates once. If you like attack tiles, there are numerous other characters that can do attack tiles better.

His green is just bad. Far too expensive, tries to do too many things but does none of them well.
  • Doc Ock has his moments. I like his black but I agree his green and blue are both too expensive and not always effective. I do enjoy dusting him off for goon nodes, it makes for a fun little mini-game of 'hunt the countdown tiles'. Very satisfying to turn 1 countdown tile into 2 attack tiles.
  • Doc Ock is a good third partner to use if you are trying to hulk bomb an over-powered node in pve. With the gauntlet coming up, maybe some would find that useful. However there are so many better options these days....
