Should PVP use one player pool?

A couple of IceIX quotes regarding new 5*'s:

No, you don't take 2* into fight with 4*. But alternatively 4* are not (usually) able to -see- 2* to attack them, either. If 4* can't see 2*, why should 5* see 3*?
At one point the PVP MMR was changed so those just starting the game didn't feel a sense of helplessness as they transition to 3*. But won't this make there be a sense of helplessness for anyone transitioning to 4*?
Perhaps it is time to have everyone in the same pool again? Or, if not, perhaps it's time to have 2* max PVP that rewards 3*, 3* max PVP that rewards 4*, and any rarity that rewards 5*?

IceIX wrote:(snipped) you're talking about some kind of league system which isn't really within the scope of a 5* roll out. The disparities are certainly something we're aware of.firethorne wrote:Any plans to segregate PvP for people still working on 3*s to not get obliterated out of placement by teams two to three tiers above their weight class?

You don't take a 2* into a fight with 4*s. Why would you intend to take a 3* into a fight with 5*s?

I agree. The video said the 5*s will be directed to the vets, so how about they get their own PVP so the newbies can still win the needed 3* covers. This has been mentioned numerous times, now with the release of 5*'s we need a Normal PVP event and a Elite PVP event.0

An event for each star with the top prize being one star up from the event you are playing and mid tier finish would get you a cover of your current *.
So 2* players play against 2* players and the best finsihers get 3* rewards, mid tier get 2* rewards. This lets the best players start to transition to 3* and the middle tier players expand their 2* roster so they can start transitioning to 3*
3* players play against 3*s and the top players get a 4* reward while mid tiers get other 3* rewards.
4* players play against 4*s and the top players get a Legendary reward while mid tiers get other 4* rewards.
So basically PvP rewards would be the way to transition to the next level.0 -
Right now in some brackets 1k isn't even T100. Imagine when everyone start shooting at 1300 like there's no tomorrow?0

The reality is that there isn't an easy solution. Creating multiple tiered PVPs means that points earned from one player aren't equal to points earned for another player. That's already the case to a degree because of how the time slices work but this would make time slice differences seem like a nonissue.
They'd also have to start giving out actual prizes rather than the same rehashed 3 stars that many people have been just cycling into iso. Right now we can shrug off the redundant rewards as something they will address at a later date but if they were doing an actual overhaul, we'd expect much more than a handful of covers you don't need, some iso and some hp.
If nothing else happens, I think the bottom tier of PVP placement needs to be extended to 150, at the bare minimum.0 -
It is a problem. My alliance is more of a casual/noob friendly one. And while i have enough 3*s to hit 1000 occasionally, none of us have a maxed 4*, and a few don't even have any maxed 3*s.
We've got players legitimately wanting to win those Grey Suit Black Widow covers, and getting edged out of placement by people with not only maxed gsbw, but maxed Hulkbusters, playing for the progression rewards, and shielding at 1000 just to get the ISO rewards.0 -

Although the iso is nice, usually the main reason is to preserve your score so your alliance can go for top 100 season score and get the 4* cover.0 -
What about making a few tiers. You pick which to join. If you join tier for 2* only 1 and 2* characters allowed. Same with tier for 3*. With 1, 2 and 3* allowed. And so on. Making rewards appropriate for tier. 3* tier 800 points get 3* cover, 1000 and 1300 points get 4* covers.0

Another solution would be to have an option to play for 2x iso according to where you would've ranked and letting the covers drop to someone who needs them. Choose what you want to play for before the event and be left off the leaderboard if you just want to take the iso/hp. Probably never going to happen, but I'd be much happier earning more iso and I often feel bad taking covers away from some poor transitioner that really needs them.0

Ah, true. Season points, both alliance or even personal season ranking are clearly another reason. So, there is a lot of motivation for 4*, and now 5*s to fight for 3* covers they don't need in the slightest.0
