How can I tell the points value from a pvp match?

I just had a match queued from hours before, it said 50 points, so I broke my shield, and won myself 5, yeah 5 points, so I assume this is because since I got the match queued the other player lost a bunch of points.

Is there a way to refresh the UI so it doesn't lie?

    You can't.
Its not like this is the year 2015 or anything where network traffic is a common occurrence.

Only queue players who's scores can be verified

It's not lying, b/c at the time you queued it, it was worth 50 points. Your assumption is correct, the other player lost a bunch of points, or you gained more from when you had them queued. There is no way to refresh it.

Just to elaborate a little, the way to verify scores without using outside information is to only hit people near you on the leaderboard, near your alliance on the leaderboard, in the T10 of your bracket or in an an alliance that is in the T10 of the global event. If you're going to hit a member of a T10 alliance you probably want to queue them, wait 10-15 minutes for them to shield and then verify their score before hitting.

Alternatively the game could add an Update Score button with an iso tax like the Skip button but then they'd lose all the benefits of variable-ratio operant conditioning, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I think the best compromise would be to refresh all the queued scores when you play a match. The first one might be wrong, but the others would be updated.

Ha! I would totally spend 10 ISO for an updated score. It's a poor solution, but it would help me avoid the single digit wins when it promised 50-60.
PvP is broken in a few ways, and previewed scores is one of them. So many ways to fix this as I've ranted in the past. Have the server remember the promised score and honor it. The client could send back the promised value, but this might be a security issue. But if that is hackable, then the whole win/loss mechanism is hackable.

Today, we get an update with lots of translucent animations. This just slows down the game on a Note 3. Would have rather seen PvP server score issue fixed instead.

Playing with characters at the 150+ level, the sea is almost exclusively 166/270. So anyone who isn't 166/270, is instant piranha food. Unshielding and played 6 matches, afterwards at a lower score to shield into. Hop denied (constantly). So correct scores are super important.

Whatever you do, please don't q people up and hit them immediately. Golden rule and all icon_e_smile.gif

Once I unshield on 800+ I generally just frantically attack whatever team has best points and the least maxed 4 stars, I have no idea about what alliances at top 10 or whatever, just a guy trying to eventually get a usable 4*...maybe one day... in like a year or two.

Is there a way to know if you target is shielded to be nice or is that just guess?

The odd thing is once and a while my qd points refresh, I'll have to note it next time. Only 1 thing makes it happen I can't recall what, it might be being hit yourself however.

That said, top alliance players or players in the 70s or even 65+ often are shield hopping and will stay that high if you wait.

Lower around 500 - 700 it's risky to q a 50 point target and expect it to remain.

I don't think most players mind losing points there. Everyone complains when they can't get from 900 to 1000.

This is where q'ng and waiting helps everyone.

It'll change when YOUR score changes, but it still isn't doing a real-time check of that person's score. It's updating based on your current score and the score of that person when you queued them.
