No End Game Anymore

I know this topic has been discussed before, although the direction of the conversation was a bit different in the past. I would like to discuss the topic of the "end game" in MPQ, or rather the recent lack thereof. In the past, I could see an end game with getting all 3 stars fully covered ideally, and then getting the couple usable 4 stars fully covered. It was theoretically possible to do that, even with the constant release of 3 star characters, due to their availability in progression and PvP placement rewards. Now I have every single 3 star fully covered (well, missing one cover still for Vision), but most of my 4 star are still useless. I don't see any end in site. Now, a part of the goal of making it "difficult" to acquire covers is that they think it will keep you engaged longer, which is partially true. But the length of time has to seem within reach. I still don't have my last yellow for X-Force or last blue for Thoress. How can I even imagine fully covering Jean Grey or Ant-Man or whichever other new 4 star comes out?

What I am trying to say is, it used to be possible to reach the end-game. Now, it is not. And that makes me want to play much less than with an easy to reach end-game, because there is no point, there is no feeling of progression anymore. Buying covers is stupidly expensive, so I won't do that ever. And since they won't lower prices, I just won't spend money on the game. I won't play the game anymore either if there is no end game, because what is the point if you can't ever max your guys out?

There are multiple simple fixes. Most have already been brought up before I would not implement all of them or it would be too easy to max a guy out. But here are some solutions:

1) Add 4 star as max progression. That would add 1-2 more 4 star covers a week. This will barely be noticable, especially if they switch up the character every event and make sure to never give out the same color cover.

2) Add 4 star Deadpool daily. It doesn't have to be a new cover every day, it could be every 3 days even. But with 14+ 4 stars, that is a total of 182 covers, and constantly growing.

3) A much more practical way to quickly get a character fully covered is giving them a regular pvp placement structure like 3 stars currently have. Get top 100, get a 4 star cover. This isn't crazy. It is how 3 stars were released for over a year. You need to move up the prize structure so newer players can progress faster to catch up to old players (although not really since they won't have the ISO), and give the prizes more freely.

4) Adjust the odds in the vault, and make a non-changing vault with unlimited resets for free. Make it something like a 100 slot vault, get rid of heroic tokens and only give out vault tokens in their place. Boom. Increased token sales, increased covers.

I understand that they are afraid of giving things out for free and causing people not to buy, but they should be more concerned with people leaving at the higher levels, because newer players will not buy 4 stars since they won't be able to use them.

  • We should have, at least, one old 4* as T100/25/5 reward on pvp each season. Just like we have for every new 4*, but not once per character lifetime.

There has never been an end in sight for this game.

Even If you whale, you have to catch up with the new characters every 2 weeks. It is very very hard to do so., week over week. If you get all 4*, so what? The new 5* is coming, and you still have to continue chasing....

Mpq is like a hamster wheel.

If you play this game with an end game in mind, you will either burn out or mpq becomes your only life priority.

Personally I think the best way to play the game is to enjoy the process.stop trying to chase ALL the characters. Just fix your energies on a few of them. If you don't have time to play, drop it for a while... Even if you miss a a few weeks, when you come back, you are still able to keep up. Simply bec the old characters are still useful.... (unless you come back a year later, cos power creep is slow but is likely to make the char less effective)
  • Actually the end game is the same as op pointed, getting a ton of maxed 3*s and a couple 4*s. With 10-15 maxed 3*s and 2-4 maxed 4*s you can get anywhere you want, just because there are more of them now doesn't means you can't keep fistbustering your way up, or now the CFW + SS combo.

Back in season 2 or 3 I was part of a top 100/50 alliance. The pressure to play even then was immense, so I bowed out for 3 or 4 months, came back as a casual player and for the most part enjoyed the game again. Now I am in a super casual top 10000 alliance and just play when I want to play. I hit top placements if the event happens to revolve around my life, if not I get what I can and move on.

I would be ok with this.. i actually WANT to cover IW, Starlord, and Thoress.. but other then when they are 1k in PVP awards.. it is not easy.

It's interesting that you raise the 4* DP/XF combo. When XF got major nerf back in March, a lot of players rage quit and sold off their xf in the process. So now D3 comes with an a solid if not fun combo utilizing xf. Did the introduction of DP lead to direct power purchases for new/replacement xf in player rosters? Or are players still bitter at D3 for the major nerf, and simply not bother keeping xf on their rosters? That is a really interesting question for the whales. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I'm almost maxing my WXF, after made man 1k and, if I manage it, teenage riot 1300 mine will be 445.
