Not Another Quit Thread

I’m not quitting MPQ. A lot of people who quit like to post threads about quitting, so I figured I could post a thread about not quitting.

I’m not quitting MPQ, but I am done with it. The game has nothing for me and I don’t believe that will change in the foreseeable future.

There has been an incomplete* shift towards a 4* metagame which has effectively killed my sense of progression. I recently acquired the Bullseye and Ragnarok covers I need to complete those characters; now I only need 4 Blue covers for Doc Ock in order to have every 3* fully covered. So for any PvP which doesn’t award Doc Ock covers, there are only 3 covers that could potentially be of any benefit to me - 1st place, 1k progression, 1300 progression. I’m not far enough into the 4* tier to really compete for 1st place (although I could always try to win an easy empty bracket by joining in the last 1-2 hours), but that still leaves me with 2 covers per event. The 1k progression cover is easily achievable for me, the 1300 progression often requires a greater degree of focus, planning, and spending HP on shields. However, I’ve already got enough 4* covers that it’s highly possible that one or both of these 4* covers are of no benefit to me either.

There is simultaneously not enough 4* characters and not enough ways to earn 4* covers. Additionally, increasing more 4* characters only serves to exacerbate the second problem, whereas increasing the ways to earn 4* covers cheapens their perceived value or worse - it reduces the need for players to spend real world money to acquire them. In light of this, I’m wary of how much impact a “4* DDQ” will actually have.

*Why is the 4* meta incomplete? In short, the game is still focused on featuring 3* characters. I think the game needs to shift that focus onto 4*'s. That means more characters, more covers distributed (both PvP and PvE placement rewards, and PvE progression), and finally more 4* featured PvP - 1 a week to start, but I think eventually there should be both 3 and 4* featured PvP events running concurrently. Maybe ask if you want me to explain further, but it might be a topic for a different thread.

Anyway, I’m at the point where I can play casually and still earn 3-4 new 4* covers a week but the effort to earn 5-6, or 6+ becomes exponentially huge, so I don’t see the point. I’ll still log in once a day to get my daily reward and Deadpool points and I’m keen to see what Anniversary 2 brings, and the Day 730 reward. Sooner or later, I’ll forget to log in; just one day at first, but I’ll try and snap back to a routine. Then it will be two days, probably a weekend. After a while, I’ll realise it’s been a whole week, maybe even more. Maybe then I can actually quit.

You are at exactly the point I'm at with the game right now Mawt. I've already informed my alliance mates that if nothing is done to improve the 4* "transition" by the end of next season that I'm stepping out. 15 4*s, and more coming every two weeks, yet their covers are treated like precious jewels that we can't really have. But we need them to progress. My entire 3* roster is max level. All 40 of em. My 4* roster is pathetic in comparison, for exactly the same reasons as you specified above. I don't know where I'm supposed to go from here...

Heres a question why is it only a .06 chance at drawing 3 stars out of tokens when you can go right over to deadpool and get the token in less then 15 mins..

They need to push up the odds of getting 3 stars out of tokens to at least 33% and at least 5% chance at getting a 4 star

this is why im about to quit as well. almost all 3 stars fully max covered (not rank covered) the roaster cost is out of hand 950 per slot. At my ranking i will need at least 2000 HP per month just to keep up with the coming 4 stars, Those who say CANT AFFORD THE SLOT DONT CHASE 4 stars then you will not have the 4 star needed for the ess nodes meaning you wont score that high therefore being booted from your team.

A very simple way to fix this (well 2 )

Bring back the ultron event type match (dont need to be ultron just the scoring based system)

    OR
    Make every event a VAULT
    3 day vault 40 items
    7 day vault 80 items

in vault lower number 3 day event
    2-4 4 stars
    15 -30 3 stars
    15-30 2 stars
    4-8 health packs
    2-4 coins
    2-4 ISO

you would pull 7 to 13 tokens

7 out of 40 is a good chance to get something you want

You can see they're moving that way to 4* replacing 3* in the reward structure. However, there is a catch 22 that has made process painfully slow. They need a certain number of 4*s so that the tier is legitimate. From that perspective, the quicker 4*s are released, the quicker the reward structure will transition.

Conversely, many players already balk at a new character every other week. So, although many players say they want 4* placement rewards sooner rather than later, I doubt many of them would welcome more 4*s at a quicker pace.

We have 11 4*s now (not counting dino). There are 12 pvps per month, so obviously, the number has not been reached yet. I still think one pvp per week should be 4* for 4* placement rewards. At least give vets something to look forward to each week.

You lost a few in there. We're at 14, with FalCap as 15, and not so subtle hint at 16. In the underground, there's at least one more right now.

Bigger point though, the 4* acquisition/transition today does not look like it did 2 months ago (with the 50% increase to tokens, 1300 progression, 2000 Sim). And it will notlook like this in X months from now, where X is probably 2 because the Anniversary will change some things, but X is not infinity. So it's hard for me to get frustrated with a system I know is continuously evolving.

I get where the OP is coming from, I'm in the same relative boat though maybe a bow length ahead. But I've never felt like I have nothing to play for. I might just be demented, but I really enjoy the competition in PvP. Breaking 13k last season, 14k this season. New heights, new goals. PvE is terrible, but I imagine that will be addressed at some point. But the game experience is still fun, and it keeps getting better, IMO. That's enough to keep me around for the distant future.

Might as well throw my voice in as another person frustrated by the 4* "transition" speed. It is incredibly slow and difficult, but why should it be? ISO is already hard to come up with enough. You could simply give me every single 4* cover today and I'd maybe get one leveled every season - but there are fifteen of them so I wouldn't have the 4* leveled roster for a year anyway.

Giving out the 4*'s at a much accelerated rate (4* DDQ?) won't hurt the whaling, not catching up to them based on ISO!

Hopefully they fix this transition quickly, and we see you playing again Mawtful.

I never really understood the iso shortage concerns until I got into 4 star land myself. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for spending whatever amount of money on the game for covers and tokens but I just can't bring myself to buy ISO.

I guess that is what separates the Moby **** from the Baby Belugas icon_lol.gif

I'm in exactly the same spot (I only need 1 Red Vision to finish my 3* collection (and I'm almost positive I accidentally threw away one when selling a bunch of other redundant 3* covers.)) I just quitted my alliance since they are a competitive PVP one and I don't really need to play PVP anymore unless I need the 1k reward. My gf and I are creating an alliance for people in that position. Our main focus will be PVEs that reward new 4*s; other than that, everybody is free to play PVP and other PVEs at their own leisure.

Having said that, I'm positive that big chances are coming to adjust to the new nature of the game so I don't think I'll be quitting. I'll just keep developing my 4* roster, preparing ahead for that day.
