Fix PvP scoring - node value showed 25 but received 68 point

I don't understand the scoring system.
I select a target that shows a value of 25. Hit that node and win to get 68 points. I wanted to do two 25 point matches to hit the PvP progression. However, due to the buggy PvP scoring I only did one match to hit the progression, since I received more than double the points that were listed.
That's messed up, even though true value of target was 68 I should only get the 25. Please d3 make it so we can't get more points than what is listed.

Forum satire at its best huh.
I personally would prefer the points advertised myself and then I would be able to plan my hops better.0 -
I could also start a 100 person Marvel Puzzle Quest commune, where we all sit in the same room playing and vocally call out each hop we do. But that would just be another sticking plaster over a flawed piece of functionality.0
-
People score 1300 regularly without chats to aid them. They have the roster and the experience to do that.0
-
Yes they/I do. But what do you think about points advertised?0
-
That isn't the typical result. You bypassed all the richer point targets to get a 25 point mark? Must be working off a hit list. For points to jump that much, it sounds like a bug limited within your account. I suggest deleting and restarting account with a _1 or something.0
-
But did you submit a ticket? Maybe they can go and take away those 68 points and your progression and give you the original 25 points. I think that's a tough but fair compromise.0

This is such a cover up of the obvious problem. I normally have a sense of humor on all matters, but as a software engineer, I know this is a real bug that affects me everyday. Points played for should equal what is listed prior to the match. I already listed two solutions to the problem, and neither will "kill the servers".
There was one time that I was going for an "easy" 18 points, but got AI got lucky cascades and lost for 50. If I had known the stakes were higher, I would have put more thought in to the match. And only 1/10 matches will give me more points than advertised. I'm pretty sure it is because as I go higher in the leaderboards, everything has less value. If it was closer to 50/50 and points were +/- 5 only, this would be closer to an annoyance.
No software bug (especially impacting user) should be considered as "works as designed" or they "can live with it". Sure, it's "just a game", but a game should have a pleasant experience.0 -
Also AI is cheating ! Whenever I use Jean Grey, they don't take match 5 !0

You are absolutely correct that I'm working off a hitlist! However, the hitlist is from my familiarity with all the players in the top alliances. I'm on day 580 of playing MPQ. I just know when I queue someone whose currently worth 25, hours later I can come back and hit that target for 68. I also know I can check the leaderboards to hopefully see that person's current score to verify.
Hint- use one node for searching for targets. Use the other two nodes to save potential high point targets for later.
I do understand that the people who are complaining the loudest are hitting teams that get hit alot. Thus, those targets fluctuate alot. The targets I (and all vets) hit are much harder and stable targets. Understand that the weaker the target the faster you need to hit. Don't save it for later. If it's an easy target for you..it is for alot of players.
I and alot of other players rely on the save a target for later technique and it works. Human nature is to remember the bad (get less points) and forget the good (get more points). I don't want to get the points from hours before...I want the actual points.
Would be a sad day if the noob noise on this issue prevailed and d3 did give you the listed and not actual points or increased data activity from client to server.0 -
It isn't noob noise.
How many players would you guess use these forums compared to number of players who don't? Non forum users are left in the dark as to why points received are often less than advertised.
As a forum user and somebody who plays to the meta game you are aware of these things and plan/play accordingly and know to refresh you queue before attacking. Not everybody plays the meta game, I know I don't. Does that make me a noob? I can hold my own in PvP and make 1k per event if I really wanted to, same for PvE and could top the leaderboards there, but my life choices mean I play casual as and when I want to.
I know this thread is purely to make fun of the multitude of threads about the node point system but surely by the sheer number of threads made about it weekly means that there is a serious issue there. Think as a relatively new player about 1 or 2 months in and just starting to make a serious foray into PvP. You see a 50 point target but have to wait for health packs, a few hours later you hit that 50 point target and get 25 points. You would be thinking ****! I battled hard for those 50 points and for some reason I get half that! Sod this for a game of soldiers, I'm off to play Future Fight or Marvel Alliance instead.
At times I really hate elitists on message boards who seem to forget what it was like when they started playing.0 -

Why do you assume we forgot? I played thru that system and lived to tell about it. My time investment in PvP isn't very much. There is the initial climb to 700 which is the longest. Then second climb to s high as I can go for first shield. Then 4, 3 or two match hops till I reach my target.I only play new character pve. I'm sure my playtime is similar to yours. I just play smarter and put all my time investment up front.
At times I really hate when players who can't succeed want the game modified to make it easier for them instead of just playing smarter or understanding this game is a marathon not a sprint. Not everyone should be successful. No need to cater to the lowest common denominator.0 -
Wow, so players asking for an accuratish estimate of their return on investment is asking for the game to be made easier?0

Sorry if this sounds elitist, but I don't have a lot of sympathy for someone who can't use google to find and read the forum.
But the SSOLU has no sympathy for a lot of things.0 -
You'll have to forgive Aces and his elitist attitude. He recently lost his beloved cat and found out that 2 Sailor Moon characters are not only cousins but also lovers.0

i must hit the wrong targets then... the only point gains i have seen have been a target that was 34 returned a 39 when i got him.... hours later.
i must have to get a third party software and be welcomed into the clique to enjoy the spoils of knowing which targets to hit and when.0 -

Eh, not really. Just check the alliance name. If they belong to something like X-Men, Crewsaders, The Best, Punishers, Villians, Skynet, etc, etc (you know, the big names that you see at or near the top of EVERY PvP ever?) then you will most likely get the points advertised or (more likely) more. If they belong to an alliance you've never heard of, then you're taking a risk that they could give you less points than advertised.0 -

The guy was saying to make the game more friendly to all players (especially the majority of the players), and this is an obvious bug since it isn't working as intended (fake advertising of points).
Not every player will visit the forum for the game that they are playing, that is ridiculous. Forums are meant for discussions, and information, sure you can bypass this "bug" by playing smarter using the forums to understand how it works, but the game itself should be fun and playable without any extra resources.
You may be one of those players that work around bugs or difficult gameplay to achieve your goals, you are expecting everyone else to do the same. A solution to fix an issue that the majority of the people are complaining about would also help you. Stop expecting everyone to go through your experiences. Just because you went through WWII to be what you are today, doesn't mean the next generation has to go through a war to be where you're at.0 -
I don't see how this point issue is a bug. D3 has taken a calculated "risk" in using this system because it saves on data/server usage. For the times I need to get in a few matches while out and about, i.e. not on wifi, I am pretty grateful for this. Maybe they need to add something near the point total that says "approximate point value" or "current point value"? Nowhere is there a promise that what you see is what you get (in fact very few things are explained in game outside of matching gems and using ap to fire off abilities - well, unless you want to go to the FAQ). Even in pve you can get more points than advertised if you are beating nodes while they're still recharging. Is that a problem that needs fixing? Would an extra sentence in the "event rules" page, or even an entry into the in-game FAQ (click gear icon, then help, then gameplay tips) be enough to satisfy you guys?0

That is an easy fix and would also be relevant since it is letting the players know that point values can change. As long as your players know that scores can change, I don't see a problem with it, but right now it pretty much means that's the score that you will get.
Honestly, if this happens one or two times, a player should probably get the idea, but you still want to make it "dumb-proof".0
