Why are we all infatuated with fluff?

A lot of the threads lately have been about how to improve the changes made to MPQ as of late. My question is, who comes up with the ideas for these changes?
Did we really need the vault? Nothing really wrong with it but it doesnt improve the game at all. The better rewards could have just as easily been added to the old reward system.
Did we need this "new look" to the layout of event selection? I 100% agree the UI needs drastic improvement but this did not effect the game play portion of the UI in any way and made the graphics look like....(I have to give a pass on this as, someone must have already been reprimanded for this snafu, I'm certain).
Did we need to access Roster and alliance chat from more places within the game? Doesnt hurt in any way but it certainly didnt enhance my experience. A stable chat would be nice. A more intuitive way to manipulate my Roster and Rewards would be much appreciated.
Did we need teamup tiles? I may be in the minority in saying I feel they are probably the greatest poor judgement call made in my time here. But, no one can convince me that they are an improvement to the game or that they were a needed change from environment tiles.
This isnt a complaint about their efforts. I just find their direction to be a bit curious. At times it appears like they are defiant teenagers. You know what youre told is right but, you wont admit to it. You have to make it appear like its your idea and your decision just to save face.
Its your game, we all (well most) enjoy it immensely or we wouldnt care enough to gripe but, some ideas are to good to deny they need implemented even if they are not yours.
I want to add this, there have been substantial improvements within the game since I've started. I hope for and expect there will be many more. I just dont need the fluff.

Team Up tiles provide a stable increase in power regardless of your background.
Some environmental tiles ranged from borderline useless to completely freakin broken. The City replenished 55HP or destroyed the left and right side of the board. Woo. The Forest, however, dealt 100HP to the party and gave you 5 of every colour AP. Latveria gave you three weak black strike tiles. The oasis created 6 green tiles on the board.
I'm still in the habbit of choosing the forest or oasis node in PvP because of that bonus that no longer exists.
Team Ups, however, mean no matter which background you're on, the footing is the same. "Ugh, this fight's gonna be harder because I'm in the city." whereas now you have a free ability from someone not in your party.
They're a lot more fair now that the enemy doesn't carry 3 with them in every fight.
I still tend not to use them, but it's better for balance that environmental tiles were removed. They were broken as hell.0
