Marvel.com: What covers are you maxing to get the most out of Falcon's abilities?

Joe Fletcher: Around the office, we've been going back and forth on whether he's best to push forward as straight damage and maxing his Yellow and Red, or whether to use his support abilities with a Red bruiser, so pushing him with Yellow and Blue maxed out. There are definite things to be said for both strategies, but I personally go for the former.

Sam Wilson looks like a decent character, now captain marvel's 5 red counters something potentially dangerous.

Hmm, being able to make countdown tiles go faster WITH EVERY BLUE MATCH. Wow, talk about overpowered. Pairing him with Ragnarok and Wilson Fisk will be a good strategy. Save up Rag's red to create the blues, and match them all to make Fisk's Henchmen launch earlier. Fastest match ever.

His marquee name is "Sam Wilson" rather than "Captain America", so I'm guessing that he's usable alongside Steve. This may be why Demiurge chose to trigger everyone's OCD and not name him "Captain America (Sam Wilson)" to match Steve...

I mean, come on - at least be consistent with Falcon, who is not called Sam Wilson! Unless he's up for a rename to "Sam Wilson (Falcon)", which would be acceptable.

Joe Fletcher: Sam Wilson (Captain America) will be available in the upcoming run of Unstable Iso-8 that starts on August 20th, with a Versus Tournament following up a little bit after. He's also going to be the Season 18 Alliance reward prize as well, so there will be plenty of ways to add him to your roster.

See,,,this is the part that I just don't think they get at D3/Demiurge, During his PVE if you can grind to top 100, you'll get...1 cover. Grind to Top 20...2 covers. Plus one if you're one of 2K players in a top 100 scoring alliance. During his PVP run, you only get a cover for top 1 finisher..so yeah, not counting on that. Then if you're one of 2000 people in the Top 100 alliances, you'll get 1 cover at the end of the season. So, in one season, the most dedicated players will have what, 3-4 covers? How does that equal "plenty of ways to add him to your roster"? Or I suppose, yes, you can add him to your roster as a trophy, but how the heck are you supposed to use and enjoy him? Seriously, 4* is now becoming the heart of the game - stop treating their covers like precious snowflakes (to borrow the phrase from a poster more eloquent than I). More appropriately, now that 4* are the heart of the game, you can't make the 4* tier PTW as it was before. It's a joke, and it has to come to an end asap. The devs need to roll out 4* DDQ or whatever asap, and even then it may be too little, too late.

They don't care.

There are enough whales playing the game who are insta-covering and insta-leveling the new 4* characters, that they simply do not care what the rest of the playerbase thinks from a game logistics standpoint. They make their money off that tiny fraction of players, and they have to keep them whaling, or the game starts losing money rapidly.

Nothing else really matters to them from a survival standpoint. Hence, nothing substantial is going to change until the current whales stop chasing new 4* characters. Then we'll see the first 5*. Then I'll quit.

Freaky is right. that quotation about the many ways to obtain sam wilson is tone deaf.

4* cover availability has only been marginally improved since December 2015. So even if people can get 1 or 2 covers for any given 4* more easily than they could 8 months ago, getting 13 covers for the same 4* is still a very tall order for most players in the game.

That was fine when 4*s were the special trophy class of ultra-rare prize characters for whales. But now 4*s are the heart of the game: they control the meta, and are clearly the dev team focus (having gone from 4 real 4*s to 15+ in less than 8 months, and having had no 3*s released since May/June 2015).

If 4*s are the main end-game playing field, then I don't see how the game can continue to make 4* covers so hard to get. In the current state, it will take many months of grinding OR $20(US) per cover to build a each 4*. That's a bad strategy, especially when it still takes months for new players to build a useable 3* roster.

Yes, covers are expensive, but not _that_ expensive - a Stark gets you 8 covers, that's 12.5 bucks per cover.
Still expensive, but not 20 per pop.

true, if you are willing to drop $100, you can get a better price per-cover. But that still requires dropping more than $100 per 4*, and there is a new 4* every 2 weeks. Are there really enough whales willing to buy two starks a month to support the game?

$200+ a month, (plus ISO costs) seems like absurd ask to me.

Joe Fletcher: The Remender/Immonen run has been one of my favorite picks for the past few months along with Ant-Man and Howard the Duck.

Please, PLEASE tell me this is a subtle hint that Howard is coming soon to MPQ!! His current book by Chip Zdarsky is one of the best and funniest things Marvel's publishing at the moment.

We got Devil Dinosaur for the year one anniversary; it wouldn't be crazy to hope for Howard the Duck for year two. And who knows, maybe by year five we'll finally get Forbush Man!

Bumping up a slightly old topic, but...

In this interview, they said Sam Wilson would be the alliance reward for Season 18. However, Deadpool X-Force is currently the reward. Has there been a change in plans, or is Deadpool being there a mistake?
