Horrible reward for the effort
Which is what the latest PvE is. 80,000 points gets you what? A Daredevil cover. Really.
And the top 2 people in 1000 get Prof X. That is just...pitiful.
A 7 day grind to win Daredevil, and Cyclops is you get top 150. Big deal. We are waaaay past the time where a point reward for PvE needs to be a 4*.
Only giving a 4* to the top 2 (0.2% of participating players) is very, very harsh. And we know only one type of player will get it - those with a stacked 4* roster already. Like always.
I enjoy PvE, but this is too much. Add a 4* to the point reward system, even if you're not going to scrap the competitive element (which I don't like, but that's another story).

Most players with developed 4* rosters are not going to devote 20+ hours to getting a PX cover for EotS, when they could instead play for like 2 hours in Krakadoom, hit 1000 and grab a PX cover. EotS does however have really great rewards for players transitioning, both with a top 5 3* character being rewarded, and the opportunity to get 13 tokens. A player with a 4*, or even a mostly developed 3* roster is only going to play PvE for some ISO/HP, or if theres a new character, and neither will do the necessary, and superlame grinding to get t2. Seriously, the last EotS, for Ant-Man I fought for t10 and I never wanted to do PvE again afterwards.
They should add better progressions for PvE, but it will have serious consequences, in the sense that it will cause players who are transititioning to 4* to at least hit the top progression in PvE, and therefore push 2* transitioners lower.0 -
I'm only playing this one to earn EOTS tokens. I've been on fire lately so I'm going to keep pushing for special tokens. I 100% agree that we need 4* progressions but remember it's nice to have anevent you can not give a **** about and skip once in awhile too. Somebody out there is dying to bag one of those Clops covers. Just not you and me.0

There are thousands of new players who are more than happy to get those rewards. I'm thinking this event is not directed for seasoned players of MPQ. Just because you or I don't need these covers I wouldn't call them pitiful.
Hasn't this been the reward structure for old character pves for awhile anyway?0 -
The easy solution if you think a PvE's rewards are not worth it is simply not to play.
As acescracked points out, there are plenty of newer players who are more than happy with 1-3 Cyke covers, since he's one of the better 3* characters.
Also, EotS is one of the more generous 7-day events out there as far as the rewards in the subs themselves go, with some good rewards in those survival missions. I'll just play through every sub once for some ISO and tokens and take a breather until I'm going to start the grind again on the Captain Falcon release PvE right after.0 -
I am not disagreeing with you, but I prefer to see this as Demi telling MPQ addicts who can't help themselves, "take a few days off and get a life."
(before the next 4* pve hits)0 -
The OP had me until "I enjoy PvE..."
Seriously though, I tend to think of these events as those breaks we're always saying we want.
I just finished the Juggs PvE at 5th overall with T10s in each sub for my 4 cards, and although I could use a Cyke cover or 2, for me this is essentially a 10-day vacation from the competitive grind-fest that is MPQ-style "PvE."
Realizing it's a dream, I do wish D3 would consider separating the rewards into tiers based on event length. A 7-day event for a 4*? Sure, totally reasonable. I wouldn't run it, but that's because I've already been sitting on 7-8 1-cover 4*s for months now, and one more essentially (see what I did there? ) useless 4* does nothing for me.
Conversely, for the "lower" level rewards, it's pretty easy for me to imagine a bunch of newer players burning out pretty quickly running 7-day events...

All fair and reasonable responses, thanks guys for the necessary reality check. I guess that's the (first world) problem with having a good 3* and fairly pointless 4* roster. I have all the 4* but with minimal covers apart from Xforce, so they're mainly only useful for ensuring I hit all the nodes.
And yes, EoTS does have good iso rewards and gold tokens aplenty, so I'm happy again. I will support my alliance with a decent points haul, and probably hit the 80,000 without it being a chore, knowing that my good roster gets me through an entire set of matches nicely.
Perspective? Got it.0 -
DD red is one of the few 3* covers I still need, so I'm not complaining one bit.0

So don't put in the effort. Not really that hard a concept.
I won't argue that progression rewards are very light in PvE, but they are what they are currently, so if you they're not worth it to you, then don't do it.0 -
My only gripe is I need but it seemingly also a high placement reward (don't feel like grinding heavily for T50 finish). Now I'm curious what the next PvE progression reward cover colour for is gonna be...0

i'm one of those newer players that appreciates the chance to pick up the covers.... HOWEVER.... i have spent the last 4 "off" PvEs (covers of much older 3*) grinding against a couple of folks who have what appear to be every character covered. to each their own, but good grief, i'd love to find a different bracket somehow for once.0 -
EOTS tokens have paid off huge for me today. Won three of them. One for event progression, one for placement in first node and one for beating survival node. Pulled:
That brings me up to pulling six 4* covers in less than a week.0
