Anyone else throw out bad 3*'s and regret it later?

I keep doing this and god I feel dumb later but I had to make a choice at the time when it came to roster space but it just keeps kicking me in the nads at some point.

-She Hulk's green buffed to awesome cheap disruption, would almost have a done one

-Beast.....straight buffed all over, would have a almost finished one here too

-Daredevil buffed, would also be almost done

and now im sitting on a 5/5/1 IM40 and a 5/5/0 ragnarok wondering if they will ever actually be buffed or should they be on my chopping block choices if roster space becomes an issue again.

  • Yeah. Loki before he got his third power. Took me forever to get his cover, especially that darn purple one. icon_mad.gif

    I learned my lesson there.

I sold 3 beast covers in quick succession several months ago (he was a season 3k reward quite some time ago, and I pulled two more from tokens around the same time).

It never actually hurt me, since I didn't care about any pve where he was featured. But it did prevent me from finishing his ddq rotations the first two times. Also, instead of an 8 cover beast, I would probably have a full 13 now if I hadn't sold him. It was a decent lesson in the mechanics of this game:

They really really want you to have at least one of everyone, and the game is designed to punish you if you don't. It just reinforces how important roster slots are. they are the closest thing the game gets to a durable good.

    Loki. Definitely Loki.

He's one of my favorites, and I kept him for awhile, but I ended up selling him for someone else (Sentry I think?) before he got this third power.

Now, fast forward to today and I almost have him covered.

Loki was sold for roster space and after his third ability I got him fully covered again. Remember By not having the 3* you are shooting yourself in the foot in PVP. Just having the covers and higher health is better for defense than the loaner characters no matter how bad they are.

I had also sold my 1 Spider-Man cover when he was a god. I was going from 1-2* at the time so I would not have been able to use him anyway but man when I found out how good he really was I could not believe I sold him

    Hood and IM40 are the only 3* I don't currently have. I don't WANT IM40. Like, ever.

Hood, sure, but I don't have the patience to collect his covers when the only power of his that really gets me going is Twin Pistols. I'll have a single cover of him and then a new character gets introduced that makes me go 'ooh' and he gets sold off again.

Like, I have enough HP for a roster spot right now, but that HP is probably gonna go towards 1* Spider-Man, since I could build HIM quickly enough to make him worth tinkering with.

I REALLY hate IM40 and I am quite shocked he hasn't been reworked yet since he is one of the oldest 3*'s and people have been begging for a rework on him forever, the way he is designed is just so bad and from a different time in the game.

that old age and hope for a rework is really what keeps me hanging onto him but at the moment I am just dying to throw him out the window if needed.

I wish I never sold my extra 3* Luke Cage covers. I was sitting at 0/5/5 for awhile. I kept pulling Red or Black, I could of made a second one for PVE. Right now he's still only 2/5/5 but I could of had a second 0/5/5.

I agree on everyone saying Loki. I got a few covers early while he was vaulted prior to his third. He's one of my fav characters.

funny enough I always hanged onto loki because I loved his board shake on illusions and the table turning on trickery

only 3* I've thrown away was Mystique, when she was nerfed, I don't regret it at all
  • Bad implies situational to me. I have had great fun with im40 in the certain times. Most matches, he's too slow going to even do any damage ever.

I think I sold a GSBW green way back when you could sell 3* and 4* characters for HP, and I needed the roster slots. Would love to have it back now that mine is setting at 4/4/5.

I've sold off multiple Iron Man and Ragnarok covers and never regretted it. Though I do have them in my roster now, each with 3 covers. I never received covers for any of those "bad" characters until after they were reworked (Beast, She-Hulk, Doc Oc).

Not just DDQ but the notion that pve essentials now require a 2 star.png , 3 star.png , AND 4 star.png really make it tough to toss anyone out. If you want more than 1 cover for a new release event, you really have no choice but to either keep everyone or have a rotating slot and keep covers as long as possible.

Keep your 4*s, keep your 3*s, dump all but high value 2*s (OBW, Storm, Magneto, etc) keep 2* covers in your sell queue and rotate them in as needed for essential

This is the ideal strategy fmf, but it is also a pain in the **** so I didn't Describe it in detail. Rotating 2*s clogs up one's cover queue, but is more efficient than rostering all 2*s.

Throw out 3 stars? Nope! 2 stars? Definitely... all the way into them being essential in PvE all the time now. I rue the day there's a new character and 2* Cap is essential. I'm gonna have to skip it or settle for Top 50.

    Baffles me, too.
Especially since Iron Man is one of the more popular Marvel characters at this point you'd think they'd have re-worked him to cash in on that.
I want to use the guy, I want an excuse to level him. As he is I just get ten yellows and have him feed my other, much better characters.

Alas for poor im40 (and psylocke, and a few others too), they have never, quite, been the worst 3*s, and demiurge never bothers to fix 3*s that aren't obviously terrible.

And now they are clearly focused on building out 4* land. I would expect the pace of 3* tweaks to drop way down.

at this point really it can't be that hard for them to rework him, suggestions have been thrown around everywhere to make him very usable but this has always been the problem I've had with D3's balancing of characters in the game, as in it's either REALLY REALLY slow to happen or feels completely sporadic in what gets changed.

fix'em, do a featured PvP to entice people with minimal covers for him, receive money from people wanting to quick cap him out because he's would be desirable.

I have never sold any 3*'s, however I did purposefully avoid winning Doc Ock when he launched - I was burnt out and he was not exactly a great character. It was then a long time before I ever got cover for him, and even now he's the only 3* that I'm missing more than 1 cover for (I need 4 to get him capped, probably 6 to get him optimal).

My only regret was missing out on the cover/extra ISO from the first time he showed up in DDQ.

When you have Hood at 5 blue covers it is shockingly easy to collect enough AP to fire off Twin Pistols. Many a time that has been a match winner for me. Hood, Magneto Marvel Now and Modern Storm and you have a team that can take down maxed Fistbuster teams with ease.

I regret selling my 10 covered Loki before Patch was released. Trying to rebuild him now but those covers are proving to be very elusive
