SHIELD sim popularity

Are the current pve and pvp events so bad that nearly everyone is in the SHIELD sim the past few days? In the last 24 hours or so I have been attacked close to 100 times. I know the 2 events don't have the best of rewards but, this seems excessive to me. I haven't been in the top 250 and I'm ranked at about 450 atm. I haven't left a weak team up although it isn't always a defensive team as I have been playing in the sim more than normal.

Anyone else finding this to be true.

  • I think it depends on your bracket. I'm #48 in mine, and I've been attacked once, for a +1 point win. I play casually, and haven't gone above a few hundred points in the past, so they probably put me in the softball bracket.

Yeah, It was the perfect time between 4 events to get Carnage.

If you're looking to get that 2,000 points cover, I strongly recommend you avoid trying to get it on the last few days of the season. Before that, you will rarely get retaliated while climbing. And even if you do, you can easily find high value targets (worth 50+) to resume your climb. But once the season end draws nearer and people start shielding, it will become harder to find high value targets and you will be retaliated against more often.

Thus, the latest I would start ShIELD is a week before season's end.

I think after people saw that it was possible to hit 2k and there were good enough rewards in the Sim to go for 2k, a lot more people are playing the Sim earlier. What was your score? If you were attacked that many times, I'm going to assume you've climbed to a decent score, which means you're a juicy, point value target to those that are climbing and are below you. The strength of your defensive team isn't as big a factor, compared to the amount of points you're worth to people.

As I have been playing sim quite a bit since I've had little interest in the 2 current events, I'm floating between 1400 & 1550 points with all the wins and attack losses I've had.

That means you're going to be worth 75 points to people that are starting out or 100s of points below you. That's probably why you've seen a lot of attacks. If you haven't hit 2k yet, it will probably take a strong push, as opposed to multiple / gradual pushes to get to 2k. You might be able to get a bit higher before you need that strong push, but it really depends on factors beyond your control, like other people playing / attacking you.

I usually havent pushed so high, so soon in the season. I did assume I would get attacked some but, I really didnt expect this much. Chalk it up to experience. I think I will just let it ride until the last 24-48 hours to see if enough people get ahead of me where I can make a late push. Best plan Ive got atm.

I climbed to 2000 points and got my Carnage last night and I am now below 1600 points. Do I care, not really I got my covers. I will climb back to 2000 by the end of the season.

Omg I'm having the same problem. I think since they launched the 4* reward that participation has increased. I struggled to get prof x last season but made it. This season though feels impossible! I was playing and took a phone call mid game (so inconvenient!) and 19 mins later had been attacked 13 times and lost over 200 points. I around the 1700 mark so kinda expect to be targeted a bit but really struggling to make ten health packs move more than 100 points (sometimes actually losing points as attacked more than twice whilst battling). Maybe I need to pick a better time of day to play... Any suggestions?

Did the same, got my carnage cover, then letting people feed off me, and using it as an iso farm. Just for fun though, i saw a 270 JG paired with a 190+ KP and 166 SW in there, worth 80 points.. so i took it on with a 166 LDaken/Cage/KK and won easily.

This, basically. I've been above 1800 three times now. Since I'm not really playing Iso-8, and am late joining Psylocke, I had nothing better to do in game than just climb in Sim again.

I like putting different teams out and seeing where they settle into their 'hovering' level. I can mess with that more since I play pve less now - hardly at all lately. that may have some affect on increasing sim activity - pve burnout and reduction in pve play time.

last season I only had a few maxed and my main sim team was 166thor/166mags/153loki. I've since maxed fist, Cyclops and cage and I know that Cyclops/fist/mags can hover a good 100 pts above thor/mags/loki (~1600 vs ~1500). thor/mags/loki gets hit pretty often - not very scary I guess. I'd love to bring some of my 140 characters but can only do that very early or they'll get beat down farther than I like.

I hit 2k last week and then got hit back down to 1400. So every once in a while I go in and do a few retaliations from people that hit me. I guess I've been bouncing between 1600 and 1800 ever since.

It's a good time to Sim since not many people are playing PvE. I'm currently shielded in Psy PvP, so Sim is all that's left.

I did my pushes in Sim when other people are doing their final grinds in PVE or PVP.

I pushed to about 1850, shielded, recovered Health Packs, then pushed again to 2K, then sat unshielded. Am now hovering around 14-1500. Keeping my retaliations for closer to the end of the season when everyone pushes up and shields, that way they should all be juicier and I'm hitting their climbing teams and not their defensive teams, and they should be shielded and worth more points.

A relatively hard PVP as Cage's is, rewarding boring ol' Psylocke and IW at 1k, followed by weak ol' Psylocke's own PVP rewarding ol' Rocket & Groot with IMHB black (his more commonly rewarded cover) at 1k, all while the nth iteration of ISO-Brotherhood rages on, rewarding ol' Doom? If it wasn't for the simulator I wouldn't have played at all beyond DDQ in the past few days. A nice, welcome break to the carnage that will be Jean's PVP.
  • I've been having trouble this time around, I think i'm currently ranked in the 140s with around 1700 points.
Should i let my self get hit to be able to climb again since I'm pretty much only seeing 166 teams at this point?
If so how much should I let my rank/points go down before climbing again? icon_e_confused.gif

no idea, but I'm hovering just under that level and most everything I'm seeing is 166s too - all beatable but sometimes health packs required when I don't boost. will boost during my push, but not the farting around I've been doing.

I have seen more max covered/leveled JG's in PVP than in any other 4* release since i started playing. Wonder what it is about her that attracted every whale known to man to max her instantly.

That being said...even at 2/1/1 buffed in her essentials, she is pretty useful.

Add me to this group. I got my Carnage a week ago, and I've been bouncing between 1600 and 1800. I figure every battle I'm adding points to the pool.

Dev's, take note.. everyone is loving the new shield sim AND with it being structured how it is.. we get our reward, then help others get theirs by allowing ourselves to be smacked down.. then mess around in it got iso rewards and to add more points for others to get to 2k...

this + ddq could keep you going for a while , more content like this pls!
