Possible to reach 800 progression in PvP for transitioners?

Hi All,
I'm a 2*->3* transitioner and have recently fared pretty well in PvP by joining late, getting to ~400 points for a token and some HP and sometimes even ending up Top100. With some of my characters getting more covers though, there are now cases where the ranking cover is not interesting to me anymore, so I was looking towards the 800 progression reward.
After reading through the various "how to reach 1000 in PvP" threads, there seems to be a causal mention of "climb to 800, shield and now the real strategy starts"
As, in my case, the 800 progression is much more attractive to me, I am wondering what would be the best way to just hit that, ideally without having to spend HP on shields and with a non-maxed transitioning roster? (For reference, my roster is here)
My current plan is to join a bracket early, play the seed teams and maybe one or two more matches and leave my "climbing team" (e.g. 2* Stormneto or 2*Wolvie+Daken) on defense to get in a few hits (and possibly nice retaliation options) when it doesn't hurt me too much. After a day, I'd hit some of the retaliations, play to Score X (aiming to stay out of the top 100) and leave my strongest characters on defense (bossted, deterrent, anything that helps me getting skipped)
Ultimately, I want to make the final push 3-4 hours before the slice ends, so as not to get caught up in the last minute climbing frenzy (since placement isn't that attractive in that case)
Does that sound like a viable strategy, or am I overlooking a fatal flaw? Is this possible with my roster? Is there a better way to do it? And what ideally would be Score X to aim for mid-event that lets me stay relatively unnoticed and in a good starting point for the final push?
Advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I try to start 4-5 hours before the PVP ends, can usually hit 800 at one go as you'll be able to find lots of targets at 50+ points.
you've several fully covered 3* so you can start using them in your climb. C.Mags and cyclops are useful. The 'Score X' can vary and it usually starts at around 650.
I usually ignore if i get off a fight to 1 defeat but if I get 2 or more, that's the signal to stop and shield. absorb the attacks for at least 30 minutes then continue your climb, if you've not reached your target.0 -
So, I just wrote a longer-winded answer and it got deleted or lost by a time-out.
So, the quick answer is yes, it's doable with your roster. I've done it 3 times, twice with using shields and once without, and I think your roster is better than mine. My 3* are at various coverage and capped at 105. Also, I'm placed in a vet bracket, so I have a lot of odds against me. Your plan is everything I do, except I've had more success finishing the climb at 18 hours or earlier before the end of the event as opposed to when I tried several times between 3-12 hours before end.
Though, I guess it depends on whether you get a vet or easy/noob bracket, but making the final push in the last 12 hours has risks. It's true that between 4-7 hours, it's a bit "quieter", but it's not stagnant. My experience during the 3-7 last hours is I generally hit a wall at 700 points - so that every win was negated by a loss, oftentimes in the negative. Keeping my characters capped at 105 has made me a target for everyone. While it's true that the points are higher near the end, there are also a lot of late starters or vets, who are hopping.
I've tried a few different approaches over the last couple seasons: different time slices, different join times.. and what's worked is joining a slice no later than 2 days (before the end) or pre-registering (hopefully that bracket will fill up with miscellaneous players versus vets from the top 10 alliances, which has happened to me twice when I joined between 1-1.5 days before end), sitting at zero till about half of the top 10 reach 800 or higher (noticed that it happens between 1-1.5 days before end), climb to 400 or so, let my health packs regenerate, watch for hits, then make the final climb at time when it may not be busy - early morning or late evening. I think the biggest problem I've had is finding the balance between finding suitable matches starting at 650-700 points, either because the other teams are far superior than mine or I start too early.
The two times I had to use shields were because my queue went stagnant, cycling the same 3-4 teams. I ended up using a 3-hr shield for each case, hoping that the queue would refresh with more suitable matches after it expired. It did and I was able to get to 800 with the 2-3 matches lined up. If you can climb to 725, then you still gain 100 hp, so it's a net positive of 25. So, you may want to consider using a 3-hr shield if you run into a wall.
I don't know if my way will work for you, but it's worthwhile to experiment. One final note, I usually play the last half hour to regain some of the points I lost from starting early. After 800, I usually fall to under 400. I play the last half hour or hour and can finish with 600 or so points to add to the season's score. In the last event, Sticks and Stones, I won the Luke Cage red, re-climbed in the last hour to 600ish points and got T100, too. A nice bonus. Though, I think it's hit and miss, depending on the prize and I don't think a lot of people wanted to have a blood bath for a Psylocke cover in those last minutes.
