Is it coincidence that Luke Cage is also a powered up character for this PVP0
-
But then you'll have the AI play black terribly and nullify IF's main strength.
Boosted Dooms black will always fire so perhaps no black users?0 -
yeah, I've learned that fist/cage is great on offense but easily beaten because of how the ai plays black. not sure what I'm going to leave here on d because of that.0

Daken/Blade. all 3 strike tile generators, and blade's black will go off quite a bit, leading to AP denial and a frustrating fight. You won't get many defensive wins, but you will get some skips.0 -
Any advice on the best slice to join if I'm looking to join late and get a fresh bracket going for placement v. progression for this event? Note: 2*-3* transition player here. Thanks.0

PVP's are not like PVE's, just join and hope for the best. Getting a fresh bracket as a transitioner makes you a target, joining as one of the last, gives you loads of targets and points to be had.0 -

Maybe I'm misunderstanding how this works, but I thought if I wait to join until 1-2hrs before a Slice ends (likely Slice 2 or 3, which are less busy) and hope that I get into a fresh (meaning new or not full) bracket, then I can hopefully climb into the t100 w/o having to score in the +800s. I've had very little luck in trying to play the whole PVP session and get the 3* reward at 800 (usually top out between 650-750). I've seen posts about people joining late and getting into a bracket that doesn't fill or at least isn't super competitive, so that way I could at least aim for the t100 prize since the 800 progression prize had eluded me thus far. Is this wrong?0 -

Not wrong, just risky. You could join late and end up in a bracket with 200 Fistbusters doing the same thing, or end up being the last person to fill a bracket, alternately, you could find a bracket like an alliance-mate did with a whopping 10 people in it, do seed teams and guarantee top rewards.
A tiny bracket if you are just going for the covers is fine, but you miss out on all the iso and progression rewards.
I will say this, i am not really a "go to" guy when it comes to PVP, i am a hardcore PVE'er, only recently focusing on PVP more, as i have a large number of 3*s fully covered, so take my advice considering it is what i did as a PVE 3* transitioner who needed iso from PVP and the occasional cover more than i needed ranking.
After the Jean Grey PVE is over, i need nothing from the next PVE and nothing this week from DDQ (took a while, but feels good to have a lazy week), so i am going to put quite a bit of advice i got into use and try for my first 1k in PVP (got really close once, 990, but couldn't get that last one without being hammered, gave up and shielded after 3 tries).0 -

With Cage and IF you are at great start. I made it to 1K with Hood(122)/Cage/Doom last time.0 -

You're not wrong, but personally I think your logic about what slice to pick is backward. I'd go for the busiest slices to late join, not the least busy, you're less likely to end up in one that's been open for a while already. When I was late joining pvp, I would always do slice 5. Partly bc that one works best for me time wise, but also because I figured it had the greatest chance of being "fresh" since it would be the only one available at the end. Problem with my logic, is that there is no chance of a "lazy" slice. EVERYONE that is joining is pushing for the same thing as you. I got lucky a few times and got burned a few.0 -
Which time slice or slot is usually most busy or active ?0

Yeah you can definitely reach 1k and probably fairly easily. What day are you on? I'm curious because our rosters are very similar. I'll share what I usually do and hopefully that helps. Slices 1 and 5 typically have the heaviest hitters so there will definitely be high point targets out there. On the flip side, it will be harder to place well in those brackets, but for players like us, that doesn't really matter. I like to join slice 2, 4, or 5 with 8-16 hours remaining. With a full supply of health packs, you can hopefully reach somewhere between 800-950. Depending on how often you're getting hit and how many health packs you have left, you can either throw up a quick shield here or continue to push for 1k. I didn't shield in unholy outlaw and made it to 1k, but i usually shield at 950 and wait until i find a 50+ point target. If you can't make it to 950 in one go, just shield and try to make a push to that point later. You can do it, you just need a little luck with not getting hit during that last match. If the only high point targets i can find at the end have tough teams, I'll use +2 all boosts to maximize my odds of victory; you just can be afraid of losing to those teams because at this point, you can beat anyone with your roster and the right board.
This unsolicited advice really got out of hand haha. Anyway, good luck in your future attempts to reach 1k!0 -

I've had great luck joining Slice 1 with less than an hour to go. Of course I sometimes end up #450-#500, but that's the luck of the draw. Just take the plunge and try again next time if you're not lucky.0 -
The horror of 290 IF 270 IMHB 240 Cage teams everywhere after 8000

After experimenting with all the slices I have found it is entirely pot luck when joining late for placement at the expense of progression. I have gotten lucky with all of them and join fresh brackets with less than 100 players and I have also gotten very unlucky and been one of the last few to join. The only advise I will give if you are hoping to snipe the best rank you can is to join when you have maximum health packs and all your characters are fully healed. Use the full extent of your roster and also do not underestimate the importance of the loan featured now that it has all 3 powers. In my opinion it is better to use the loaner at L70 than my own if mine is only L100 or similar after the buff as it saves a health pack or two. My Iron Fist only has 4 covers so I will be using the loaner all the time.0 -
Question.. in the PVP, since we do not get IF's attack tile until turn 2, why does the AI get it on their first turn? Not fun starting out losing hundreds of HP on the first turn.. they also get Cage's shield before you, same thing, we have to wait until turn 2, they get it on turn 1..0

I always figured the Cage shield thing was intentional. You get to hit them once without shield, so they get to hit you once without it. Doesn't quite work out with the attack tile though.0 -

I'm not the biggest fan of Elektra, but I'm trying for the 1K mark this time. Just picked up my ninth Iron Fist cover from a token and only 150 points to get another purple so that should have him sitting pretty. I really just want to see if my team now has what it takes to make it.0

yah, i brought my sad elektra into a fight in sim, has to be frustrating for the AI to get off a repulsor blast for no damage.0
