Let responsible users moderate the forums.

If you're going to let this place turn into 'Lord of the Flies', maybe you should give a few level-headed users the ability to police the forums.

If you want this forum to be the main conduit of information to the serious player, you should probably want to put your best foot forward with it. Especially since it's your dime that is paying for the costs to operate it. Currently, I don't think it's doing such a great job of acting that way.

  • So, if you (for example) were made a moderator, what would do differently than what is being done? I'm assuming that you don't have the knowledge to answer the questions everyone is asking. Or am I wrong?

At least move some threads to the Other Games sub-forum?

Heh. I guess some threads have been going quite a bit off-topic.
  • It'd be nice to be able to make some threads sticky, and to be able to put all the complaint and dev-mocking threads into one single thread.

    Agreed.

Moderators aren't responsible for speaking for the company, they'd exercise a bit of control in order to help keep the forums useful. They could delete spam, ban (temporarily or permanently) spammers and people breaking the forum rules, move threads to correct forums when they're opened in the wrong place, lock threads, and make threads sticky.

The forum software they're using already has support for moderators, whose name would appear in green instead of red.

Moderators wouldn't generally be expected to stop discussing the game as players, or even to stop complaining when they don't like a decision.

Great, add rules. Everyone will love that. icon_e_smile.gif

This would have been a frustrating weekend to be a forum moderator, but their presence could have helped.
