Winning Points while Shielded.

Just saw that I won 21 pts from a successful defense while shielded. Didn't realize you got credit for those.

In light of this discovery, what lineup would be squishy enough to induce an attack but still give you a shot at winning the defense.

(I believe my last attack before shielding was with L90 Hulk 4/3/5, L85 OBW 4/5/4, and L78 Punisher 3/5/5)

Maybe swap out Hulk with L82 Patch 3/5/5 and make this my last attack team before the next time I shield.

All Low HP characters (around 3K HP), likely to be attacked, but a friendly cascade (espeically if wolvie or punisher can get some strike tiles out) could be devastating, plus this setup gives 3 colors to Patch so his red attack should do a healthy chunk of damage.

Thoughts?

  • You only get points from people that retaliated and failed, or people that may have had you in the queue while you were unshielded.

I don't know if this has been confirmed yet, but some people surmise that your defending team is determined by what characters you used most often, not the last ones you used.
  • How did you get Hulk with 5 Blacks? 0_o I don't think there were enough rewards for those.

Won four through events and spent HP on the 5th cover.

Ahh... well guess that renders any strategy moot. Seems like something that should be more transparent. I can understand cloaking MMR is a veil of secrecy, but you should be able to set your defensive lineup as you see fit.
  • Someone tested this, don't recall who, but I think the last evidence still pointed to last team you won with, not anything more complex.

Patch is ok bait because he's as likely to kill himself as anyone else. C.Storm potentially works very well with him because of the retaliatory AoE triggering strike tiles, but she does have to last long enough for that to happen, so maybe not. I find Punisher generates a surprising handful of defense wins, my guess being because he doesn't seem to be doing a lot then suddenly you're all at half health wondering when it happened. Maybe people forget what Retribution does? I suspect The Hood's good for this sort of thing, if you have him. Even after the last event there's probably still people around who don't realize what a colossal pain in the butt Dormammu's Aid is if you don't kill him immediately.

Who is Dormammu anyway and why does he keep telling me about his STD?

I think M. Storm is the nastiest trap character in the game. Especially if you pair her with someone even more annoying that a human would target before Storm. Spiderman or OBW is good for this. If M. Storm is ignored for too long and builds up red/green she can start chaining her board clearing stuff with a little luck. If generates a ton of AP and then suddenly her team-mates are lashing out in all directions.

Demonlord of the Dark Dimension and nemesis of Doctor Strange. Also a carrier of Hellpes and Stygian Gonorrhea.

I think Hood/OBW/M Storm would be surprisingly tough to beat. It's missing a damage dealer, though...so maybe replace hood with wolverine.
  • If the goal is solely to get people to attack you, I'd go with Modern Storm, Patch, and The Hood.

It's really hard to verify this because it's not like we can just ask whoever attacked us who did they see. I think the evidence still points toward 'last team won' but keep in mind, anyone who is retaliating sees whatever team you beat them with, and whoever has you queued up before you made your team switch is still going to see the same team, and those are the only guys who can see you after shielded.

Now that I think about it, if you apply this logic, it should go like this:

1.You beat people with your normal team
2.People see your normal team and have you queued up
3.You beat people with your defense team
4.People see your defense team and have you queued up
    5.You shield

Now nobody new can see your defense team, so only the guy who have you queued up at the exact interval between you switched your team and you shielded can see your defense team. Obviously, whoever you beat with that new team is going to see your new team too.

This suggests if you're trying to get people to attack you, you probably have to beat a few guys with the said team while activity is low (so they don't retaliate right away as you're still playing your game) and then shield up.
