Can you get to 1000 in PVP without shields?

I just want to know if anyone out there has a tactic for this?
I cant plan shield hops because my lunch at work is random so I'm trying new things to get my 4* transition moving/started. Highest I can get at the moment is to 800 then I get battered back down.

You definitely can, but it's really roster dependent, and dependent on the boosted characters for the week.
If your equilibrium point is close enough to 800 for that particular PvP, you should be able to run up to 1K without shields.
With the current boosted roster, I've been running up to just below 800, then pushing to 1K after that without shields (caveat - this is with a fully covered 295 Thing, plus two maxed 3*s). Other weeks, when I don't have a beefy 4* to carry my team, if I'm just relying on maxed 3*s, it's possible, just less likely, since the equilibrium point is 50-100 points less, so it means more matches before hitting 1K.
It helps to make your run in the middle of the US night, though, when people are less active.0 -
Thanks.
I have no useful 4*s other than XF who isn't maxed and my maxed 3*s never seem to be boosted in the same week. I know I'm close just wanted to know if I was just dreaming it was possible.0 -
I've recently leveled 3x 3* to 166 (Thor, doom and cyclops , which were all left at 120 before) and I find it much easier to hit 800 now (probably takes about 90-120mins). Have yet to hit that 1k mark yet, always seem to run out of health packs or high value beatable targets once I pass 900. So close, yet so far away. I did find my equilibrium point to have gone up too, from about 450-500 before to 650 now.0

I got to 919 in the Eye for and eye pvp. That's my highest so far. I can get 800 as long as the loaner is decent since they doubled the scores in pvp. Used to only get to 500 before.
I haven't had a pvp where I've had all three characters boosted yet but I think when that happens I'll definitely hit the big 1K!0 -
Yeah its a combination of roster dependent and boosted dependent.
For instance in the HT PvP, I got to 1k this morning without a single shield (coolest part though? I beat someone for 70 pts and it left me at 999, I still had both of the other nodes still at seeder teams for '1' point...beat a lvl 70 HT lvl 1 storm and lvl 1 Venom to unlock PX HAHAHAHAHAHA). Why? Well I had HT at 120, boosted to 210 I think, maxed Daken at 240 and max Falcon at 240. So I had strong buffed characters AND they synergized extremely well, Falcon with HT black and Daken tiles.
There are two other factors...
Who's the reward and what time slice...the reward was loki, an important character, but most folks who use him or plan to, already have him covered, so there wasn't much competition for that like their would be for a brand new 3*. As well, my slice ended at I think 8 AM, not a competitive time - WC is still in bed, EC is going to work. I was able to work to about 600 pts last night and not a single person attacked my team. Woke up this morning, and spent about an hour getting the last 400 pts. Due to time slice and team I didn't get attacked until after I crossed 1k.

Short answer: YES.
How?
You really need to have a decent roster. That takes time to build. Late starts or slow climbs help, whichever you prefer. I've done both, and both methods work. I always shield at the end.
That said, the 900-1000pt range for me seems to be retaliation central. If I have the HP, i tend to park here for a while before resuming, but it's your call.0 -
I got up to 1100 without any shield or hop in Sharp Dressed. Used a max boosted Hood + Patch + Kamala . I went striaght from 0 to 1100 in the last 8 hours of event, then 2 hop and got my first 1300 Then my scoring went downhill after that PVP , maybe I got lucky0

It's definitely possible, though I don't remember every doing it myself.
I have a 3*-->4* transition roster with about 30 cover-maxed 3*s somewhere between 120 and 166 (with the best 3*s having more levels in general) and a couple of usable 4*s. In most pve events, I settle of a couple of good teams in the 200-230 range. It's pretty rare for me to be able to run a 290/240/240 or better team.
Prior to the point changes a few seasons ago, I could get the 1k prog reward if I was willing to devote a bunch of time and HP to shield hopping multiple times (my roster was weaker then too). Now I am disappointed if use more than 1 3hr shield to hit 1k. I do tend to throw up a shield somewhere in the 900s so I can recover some health or take a break from the game. About half the time, I take 0-1 attacks during that shield. That isn't a perfect indicator, but it strongly suggests that combined with good timing (i.e. playing at a dead time and not in the last three hours), I could easily hit 1k without any shields at all. And I do not have a top-notch roster by any means.0 -
As others have said... it is possible. I've done it about 3-4 times.
With a deep roster and having boosted characters that are good & sustainable (to help save on health packs).
Playing at off-peak time also helps. Staying away from the last 2-3 hours will also minimize retaliations.0 -
if you have a deep roster or good usable 4* then yes it's possible, i've done it almost every pvp for the last 2 seasons, mostly it really depends on the featured and boosted characters, when the featured and boosted aligned with my roster i've hit 1300 with no shielding.0

I'd wager 'who's boosted' doesn't even matter much.
The devs made a push for diversity with the boosting, but they also did other global balance changes. While tiering does exist, if you simply have a solid roster of 3s, then 800 is pretty easy. 1000 isn't difficult with a decent size and level roster. I implore folks, they made it so cheap, just level all your 3* to at least 120, it took me like two weeks to do, I had like 20 lvl 120s, so now my entire, err majority of my roster is usable, I always have 3 buffed available, but I also have my strong non-buffed. Don't worry about getting people to 166, get them all to 120 first, THEN worry about 140, then worry about 166, it will make 800 so much easier and 1000 so much more possible.
