Getting attacked like crazy in Season XVI?

Is it just me or is anyone else getting attacked like crazy this season? Last season, I could at least reach 650. This season I haven't been able to even finish with 500. I'm even getting attacked while trying to finish some seed teams. icon_e_sad.gif Is it because of the summer season and normal people are taking vacations? Or is it because of the extra 4 star reward and every point counts?

  • I have yet to get through the seed teams without being attacked, but that's not new behavior for me... I consider myself lucky if I break 100 before the first loss, and earning 250 would take me 350-400 points.

Not sure if it's a bracket thing, a roster thing, but regardless, it sucks, and it's the main reason I don't play PvP.

I found the cap PvP absolutely brutal for most of yesterday, far more so than the previous set of PvPs. I attribute it to the holiday weekend. By Sunday people want to do something that gets them away from their families icon_lol.gif

With the independence day vault, new 1300 pt 4* and changes to shield sim, yes, PVP has begun to be brutal!

upside.. it saves me a shield.. i work to 400.. knowing i will lose 200 of that.

Then wait until i see at least 10+ people over 1000, then i start my climb.. loads of 49-60+ pt targets at that point and i can make it to 700+ in an hour or so (health packs permitting) .. which means i get lots of extra iso from lower level matches i have to do again on the climb after the initial gutting.

I don't mind being hit, as long as I have time to make retals and push higher. I went to bed at low 600 in falcon event, and woke up to a 200 point loss pop up screen. Did retals on point worthy targets, hit a few more, and now I'm at low 700s.

The scoring inflation from last season has made it relatively easy for the mid-tier players (which I regard as 400-700 points range) to trade hits and go higher, and made the versus events more interesting to casual players than before.

Yea the problem is it's impossible to climb back up. You get attacked by 5+ people all at once. There's no way to do anything when you get 35-50 a win and lose 100+ points at the same time. Every PvP i get to 900 without being attacked. Then as soon as I hit this score I will be attacked dozens of times instantly and be knocked back down to 600ish. And the attacks don't stop. I have 2 options at this point. Either A shield immediately and settle for like 1 cover reward or B just keep getting knocked down into oblivion and get no rewards for the event.

It really seems like a flawed system to me. There's just no way for you to aim for those 1000 4* covers unless you already have a maxed out 4* team where people won't attack you, at which point why would I care about the cover. Most of these games where you can be attacked give you some kind of refresh time after being attacked where your safe from more damage.

It sounds like you've climbed past your equilibrium point (the point at which the strength of your characters is deterring enough attacks, so that you start having a net negative point loss). The only option at that point is to shield, wait for long enough, so that you clear off everyone's queues and retals, then shield hop to 1K. If you're getting close to 900 without shielding, that's pretty good. You could probably shield at just below 900, wait 3-5 hours, then do a single hop to 1K of 2-3 matches, with a reasonable chance of hitting that 4* cover before you start seeing incoming hits.

Yep, that's about the same way I do it with my unmaxed 3* teams. Run up to 900 until the first hit or I get scared, drop a shield, look for a few good targets, then when I'm ready, rush through to my target. As long as you avoid falling asleep and then napping through the end of your shield/the entire pvp...

that's the problem I face too. Every time I'm close to 1k, am being hit like crazy starting at 800 points. I once was at 930 points, and while I was battling against an ennmy team, I was hit and lost 180 points.
So the question is: how is the game pinking your defense team, while you ara on offence? Is it a random pick? Or does it take the remaining two best characters?

    thanks.

Your defensive team is the team you won your last PVP match with.
  • 3 problems here.

    1) Scoring system is patently ****. whereby you get attacked by an overpowered team and lose 30 points for example, but could win back 10 points vanquishing the defeat. Pure idiocy.

    2) Matchmaking.. If you are a well powered 3 star tem you consistently get your **** kicked by teams with fully upgraded 4 star characters... most notably 4 star thorette *** with 17k health - which is a massive drain on your points unless you are consistently shielded.

    3) Buffed 2 star people. The PVP matches with a myriad of buffed people is annoying enough, but the 2 star folks who are buffed are unusually powerful.

This ignores matches which feature probabilistically impossible tile cascades which feature the enemy team launching 3 or 4 special moves at once.

Structural flaws in the game are ignored for new features ( band aids ) or other fool's errands. HEY COOL, NEW PRIZE VAULTS!

    Fix the game.

  • Oh great. Attacked by a team of 270 xf, 270 *Thor (GoT) an 166 hood. Lose massive points, and feel free to fight back by using buffs and eventually winning half the points you lost. NICE WORK GUYS!

Yes, it feels like I get attacked more. Especially at low levels. It used to be that you got attacked rarely before 500, but in idol I got to 650, knocked back to 346 by the time I came back a while later. And I'm rolling a pretty decent team (200 fury and 166 cyc).

I reached 1000 points in the previous PvP, for the first time ever, but it took 5 or 6 shields. 850 to 1000 is incredibly hard and if you try "just one more match" before shielding, you might come back to -150 points. I really wish it was easier to tread water; grinding to a halt where you can't progress would be much less stressful than a potential backslide into 250th place and basically no reward. Part of this is because you can't find many valuable targets because so many people beyond that are shielded. As soon as you break you are the target everyone is looking for.

If you want placement rewards it is much easier (and costs 75 HP max) to join a late bracket and rush as high as you can go on 10 heal packs. Oh well.
  • I haven't been very active lately and Idol of Millions was the first pvp I even tried for the 4* at 1000 progression (which I got). Once I crossed 850, the attacks were unbelievable. I shielded at 900 and I saw several attacks worth 65-70 points bounce off the shield. At that point I was worried I wouldn't have a chance to climb to 1000 even with 2 pushes. Thankfully, I managed to win 2 matches and shield at 982 just before I was hit for 45. But let me tell you, it was not cool. #1 in my bracket was at 1848. No idea how he did that. #10 was at 1300+.

The most frustrating thing for me is when you play a match thinking you get 55-60 points, and after you win, you get 30. I really don't understand why the points I get rely on the points the opponent has after I win instead of locking the points I will get when I enter the match. It's bad enough that the game thinks it's something more than a dumb match-3 game, but you can't even count on the information you see on your screen, then the experience is way worse. They have to do something about it, because when this happens during a push, a single point is enough to turn triumph into disaster.
