New Player Seeking Advice

Hello all

First off let me say that while I have only been playing the game for a couple weeks. I am hooked icon_e_biggrin.gif . In fact I play off 2 systems (Ipad and Steam).

I have been reviewing the forums and trying to soak up information as best as possible but can definitely use some assistance answering some specific questions I have. Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated.

1. I'm not sure I fully understand scaling and more importantly the impact it has on my game play. If I understand it correctly the game gets progressively more difficult the more I win and/or the entire player base wins. Is this correct? Are there any guidelines to keep it minimal?

2. From reading it seems more important to "cover" a few characters lets say 2* than go forward with a level 3* or even 4* - what I am not sure about is if it makes a difference in leveling those characters before you have all the necessary covers. Should I wait to have all covers and then max level the toons? or level along the way?

3. I was fortunate (or unfortunate) to obtain a 4* Thing and a 4* Carnage in the last events. Am I making my life really difficult for myself by having these toons on my roster? I doubt I will get any additional covers for either for some time. Should I get rid of them? Roster space is not an issue (I dont mind spending a couple bucks to support a game I enjoy)

4. What is the most efficient way to get regular covers? Is it via PvP?

Thanks in advance and best of luck drawing the covers you need!!

No-one does.. but community scaling is going away, so when you play an event (non pvp/prologue) understand, the more you beat nodes, the harder they get.

    2. For 2*'s, Black widow is an absolute must. When starting out, try to keep your core team (3 or 4 2*'s) at or around the same level, so level them evenly. This way you don't run into problems stemming from your first question, scaling. Important ones are : 2* Black Widow covers in order from top to bottom 3/5/5. Thor 3/5/5, i personally use 2* Ms. Marvel at 5/5/3 (that was the first team i beat Deadpools Daily Quest final node The Big Enchilada with). Human Torch and Ares are both nice to have, especially when boosted. Captain America 3/5/5 will save you from countdown tiles once you have 5 covers in red and blue.

3*'s keep what you can, remember, you DO NOT have to open tokens.. wait until you have roster spots, then open until you fill it.
    3. I was fortunate (or unfortunate) to obtain a 4* Thing and a 4* Carnage in the last events. Am I making my life really difficult for myself by having these toons on my roster? Some will disagree, but i have 68 roster slots, and yes, i spent money. I am all for supporting a game you play.. think about it this way, an XBOX One game can cost upwards of $60... spend money and get as many roster slots as you can. The more the merrier. 4*s are essentials in PVE's now (and congrats on getting the last 2!)
    4. What is the most efficient way to get regular covers? Is it via PvP?
At first, PVE.. Most importantly though, find an alliance who is PVE oriented. When you have a solid roster of max cover , i would say level 80 or higher 2*, then look into PVP's for real rewards. This does not mean to never do a pvp, do what you can in them, get iso and some possible 2* covers while you are at it. Nothing to lose but health packs.

one thing I'd add. once you have a full * team and working on your ** teams, playing lightning round seed teams really help. after every match there is a chance that a * or ** cover will drop. to get the full series of seed teams, you need to enter the lightning round in the first minute or so it opens. LRs open every 2 hours starting at noon (US central) on Tuesday through the 10AM (US central) LR on Thursday. you may or may not have the featured character, but you'll get a loaner for the event that renews every match (don't have to worry about health for them). I logged a LR playing only the seed teams in the LR guide at the top and had 6 ** covers drop. playing 8 or so LR matches consecutively might be difficult with a limited roster, but even if you could get a few covers each time, that would help a ton. if you can manage, do not use boosts in LRs and you'll come out ahead on iso. later in the game, iso is the single most limiting part of the game as far as progressing your roster goes.

it has been quite some time since I started (last thanksgiving), but I think I got a 4hor and an elektra pretty early too. if you plan on playing the game long-term, I'd try and keep everything. it really shouldn't be very long before you have some **s at or above their level anyway, so scaling stuff should be workable by then. I think I fully covered my first 2 **s in a couple of months. if I started again, my guess is it would be half that or less.

play whatever events you can. you'll be in some noob brackets and will win some stuff before they throw you to the wolves. my guess is right now it will cost a total of about $60 to roster all the characters in the game (if you enjoy pve and want to compete at a high level, this is necessary), depending on how fast you do it. that just depends on how much time and effort you put into the game and how smart you are with your resources. obviously it doesn't have to be all done at once. really limit the resources (namely iso) you spend on 1* characters. I got lucky and only really used im35 and mbw with my developing **s to get ~1/2 way through the prologue. then I discovered all the events and got a ** roster pretty quick.

    good luck

Thank you for the replies I really appreciate it.

I had another couple noob questions that perhaps i would throw out there in hopes of expert opinion..

    1. IS there a way to gift/trade/merge cards/ISO/Hero points between 2 different accounts?

    2. What are people's general practice when fighting PvE battles? While I can appreciate a lot has to do with the board you get and the characters you play etc. But I was wondering in general what people's strategy is- for example:
Do you kill the active character first?
Do you kill the goons in a particular order?
Do you try and get rid of low HP guys first then concentrate on the big one?

    3. Does the above change for PvP? Are there particular heroes that should always be targeted first?

Thanks in advance and I appreciate your patience as I start learning this great game.

If they are both yours, and you have proof, and both using IOS/Android, then yes, a merge is possible, would require submitting a ticket, and can only be done once.

Depends on the active characters.. loki or hood.. yes, they go first. Muscle is the goon to kill first if here is there. Knowing who to kill first is going to depend on so many factors.. During the 2* days though, if 2* Black Widow is rostered and available, she can nullify goons with her blue, so board movers first there. [/quote]

Hood, Loki first if they are there, as a general rule, anyone who can steal your AP

Think you can migrate your account from one system to another but just that, and only one time. But not merge your earnings.

It really depends on alot of factors... AP stealers go first, board movers or high damage dealers go next.
Yes you will get to know wich goons to go first.

    3. Does the above change for PvP? Are there particular heroes that should always be targeted first?

No the same: Loki, Hood, OBW and also 2* Storm.

Play all events you can, use only you HP for roster slots for now (maybe if you need, buy OBW last cover or something). Also I never care much about scaling I've always Iso boosted my heroes from the start, you should read all those really well written Tips and Guides if you got the time and do this ask questions icon_e_biggrin.gif

Actually you can merge 2 accounts, as long as they both have FB saves (so no Steam) i did it with my tablet account once my main had gotten to the point where i rarely ever used my tablet.. and since i had spent $20 for roster slots on the tablet, it all came over, all HP , ISO(including iso used for leveling), Covers earned, etc.. all of it, moved to my main account.

It can only be done once in the life of the account, and you need proof of ownership for both accounts.

You're getting good answers to pretty much everything here, I'll just emphasize a couple:

Don't spend iso on 1* characters that you don't have to, you'll be selling all of them but Juggs sooner than you think.

Don't think you're going to get top 100 in pvp for a while, you'll just be disappointed. Find out how high you can push, see it as a challenge and take what rewards you can. This goes for the Deadpool daily and lightning rounds too. You won't be able to do most of the required nodes in DP yet, but the ones you can do are still helpful. You won't get far in lightning rounds but you'll still get some good iso/covers out of a little time.

OBW/Thor + any third will carry you a long way.

Join an alliance that suits where you are. Any alliance is better than no alliance but once you get rolling, don't settle for one where half the players don't play at all.

Don't play too much. The carrot on a stick psychology in this game is strong, don't let it own you.

This one is based on preference.. before i had the spots to keep 3 1*s, i chose 1* IM over Juggs as my keeper, 3 powers and a level cap of 50, with decent Hp, made him easy to solo the first round of Deadpools Daily with. Juggs has only 2 colors which can cause decent match damage, but he has cheaper powers and a board shake. I have seen people keep venom simply for the HP for round 1 as well, my wife used 1* Storm.

the 1* to keep for doing Deadpools daily is just a matter of preference...

now during a PVP/PVE where everyone is boosted.. juggs is mean..

Bah the other account is on Steam. Was hoping to transfer some of the ISO/ HP to my Ipad account. Sounds like its a no go.

Thanks for the replies though. Will continue to peruse the forums for great tips!!

FYI, that's not true. He only has 2 colors with abilities, but his black still does match damage.

I just went to the character compendium thread (below) to copy/paste his stats and they are....also wrong. It says black does 9, but it's actually 19.

You're right about personal preference though. I just think juggs is the better choice because he's great to send out as a team-up for your alliance mates, while most other 1*s aren't.

Forgot about the board shake team up, now you are going to make me spend 850hp to roster Juggs......(i keep black widow to send out 5 cover blue teamups)
