PVP teams saved per event?

This is something I've never been clear on that maybe the hive mind can clear up for me. I know that the PVP team that you last won with is left on Defense against future attacks. However, is your team saved per event, or across all PVP? That is, if I have a specific team I use for Defense in the current Patch PVP, but then use a different team in the Shield Simulator (and win), do I have different teams on defense for each? Or does my Shield Sim team overwrite my Patch defense team?

I've always assumed it was the latter just to be safe, but if it's the former, that would be very cool. Does anyone know for sure?

    It's the last team in each event, so go nuts in Simulator with whichever combos take your fancy!
