Went ahead and opened up the 36 Taco Tokens I had been saving for a better week:

1 Beast cover I could use (stop laughing)
1 3* Daken cover I could use to change him up (now 5/4/4 instead of 4/5/4)
    2 Mystique covers I couldn't use
    1 Falcon cover I couldn't use
    2 250 HP tokens
And a whole lot of Moonstone/Ares.

All in all, worse than I hoped for but better than I expected.

you just summed up the entire game in 1 sentence.

Will the tokens still be called tacos? I don't understand how a taco can "open" a vault.

For example: If I get a taco from Taco Bell then walk over to the Capital One bank and hold a taco up to the banker's face yelling "open the vault!" The banker would likely laugh in my face and have me escorted out.

Obviously the above example is a joke icon_e_biggrin.gif. Will tacos now simply be called Vault Tokens?

You gave me a visual of Deadpool walking into a bank to try to withdraw cash with tacos icon_lol.gif . That is totally something he would try so they should definitely keep them as tacos.

I'd be inclined to look at it another way. I think they've seen that we hoard tokens, in order to spend them in weeks where we actually want the characters, in effect creating our own little "vaults". All they've done is elaborate on that.

I sort of have a tin-foil hat on for this one. They have said they earn most money from token sales - and I doubt DDQ tokens have sold well. They only have a chance for five different 3*'s (unless you are just starting you probably don't need 2-3 of them), and no chance for 4*'s.

Now they'll get you some Vault tokens - and it seems pretty vague if those will be able to be stockpiled. Will the first five Vault tokens work for the second (or third) Vault? Time will tell. Even if you do hoard to get better chances, you'll want to be able to empty the vault (300 tokens, 150 days of hoarding) to ensure you get the thing you want.

But what you -can- do now is buy Vault tokens to better your odds on 4*'s. These tokens will sell much, much better than DDQ tokens did.

i still have a hard time believing that token sales are their biggest thing. shields and slots are the only thing I'd spend on in this game and hp sales have to be pretty high lately with pvp shield usage up and new character slots. i don't even like the 50hp ultron daily deal any more. i grew tired of converting 50hp into 250sio. token packs are total crapshoot. now, if they really wanted token pack sales to surge, try running an event with fist featured. that'd sell some.

I don't see how 1000HP to reset the vault will help anyone in 5-days.

Example: Player uses token, gets Professor X, now player has 9 remaining tokens for the week but wants another Professor X, so the player spends 1000 HP to reset the vault. Player uses 9 tokens and gets: 1 pink Moonstone, 1 red Moonstone, 1 black Moonstone, 1 red Ares, 1 green Ares, 1 yellow Ares, 1 Yellow Beast, 1 Yellow Spiderman, Health packs.

MAYBE 100 HP to reset the vault but a 1000? Where is the benefit? Unless you can stockpile (which I am assuming is why reset is so high).

There are definitely players out there that prefer to buy tokens rather than anything else. My friend, and co-commander of our alliance never buys roster slots! He has about 30 roster slots and everytime he wins HP, he buys a token! He opens so many 4*'s but ends up selling them because he doesn't want to waste a slot. It's been a yearly long battle to try to convince him to stop buying tokens haha

You and me both. This is quoted as an old dev statement all the time, but I've never seen the source quoted. If the 3* (or 4*!) was guaranteed in the 10-pack, as apparently they "were back in the day" before I ever saw a 10 pack, maybe I'd believe it.

It is definitely not shields, for most hoppers and others, the HP you obtain during the PVP and the final reward are usually more than the shield costs.. so you come out ahead on those.

I'm wondering if the vault "resets" to another version of the vault every five days...that is, if there are actually a limited amount of vaults. In DDQ, I theorized this:

Vault1 : Includes the three XF covers
Vault2: Includes the three IW covers
Vault3: Includes the three Fury covers
    .....
Vault13: Includes the three Thing covers
Vault14: Includes the three *next 4 star* covers
Valut15: Repeat of XF covers : - these may actually be Vault1 tokens again
    Vault2: Repeat of IW
    Vault3: Repeat of Fury

These vaults could then never be reset, but rather they would rotate. Next time you got back to vault 1 (vault 15), it would have 290 rather than 300 draws left. That's the only reason I could see the "reset vault" button at 1000 HP.

I don't know what the 10/42 packs would cost in HP, but I would think it would be cheaper to buy enough tokens to empty the vault, then buy your 4* covers at 2500HP each rather than re-buy tokens and re-empty vault.

Another possibility is that the 4* cover/color is randomized, and you could re-set rather than wait five days for a new one.

You know what would have been really great, and always would be great with new releases? A 3-5 minute of play video, rather than 10 seconds.

you have to realize we are a minority. We play "smart" it is a F2P game.

Joe average and Jill blahblah don't mind buying token packs to spice up life, they don't worry about max/minning their HP or roster slots

Or you can think of it like gambling

or you can think of it like opening packs for a card game(MTG)
  • Well this nicely screws up my plans to actually build someone that won't have a 33-66% chance of being a dupe. Turned in 32 tokens and got

    Wolverine : 6
    OBW : 7
    MNMagneto
    Ares : 2
    CStorm
    Hawkeye : 2
    Moonstone : 2
    Johnny Storm : 3
    Thor : 2
    Daken

Psylocke blue(already maxed and useless anyway)
Falcon Purple and blue, already maxed on blue, so that gets sold.
    Squirrel Girl Green
    and 250HP

Glad they decided to do this now instead of the week where I have every character at 1-6 covers.

That's a good thought too. There was absolutely no real incentive to purchasing DDQ tokens. I also remember them saying they they earn most money from token sales. It's probably a combination of both, in the end. If IceX was hoarding DDQ tokens, most of the dev team probably were as well.

I sometimes forget that we're the hardcore thin edge of the wedge. I was looking at the Google Play reviews of MPQ the other day, and it really reminded me that the vast majority of players out there don't play the MPQ meta the way we do, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they splashed out on token packs frequently. Given the spread of covers you get in token packs, they make most sense for players in 1*-2* land anyway. I remember opening my first 10 pack, and being thrilled to bits that I had pulled an IM40 (blue) cover, he seemed so powerful compared to my 1*-2* roster!

Are they going to shuffle the character rotation with the introduction of the Vault, then? I would have thought they'd continue with the next scheduled group of five and just change what the rewards were and how they're doled out.

    36 Tokens

    2x Gold ( redflag.pngicon_wolverine.pngpurpleflag.pngicon_bullseye.png )
    1x 250 HP

    rest all turds...
The Vault has to be better than this!

This is a good question, I'll keep tracking it for sure.

I sort of assume the character rotation will continue to be the same, just the reward structure moves tokens from Tacos -> Vault

Why would they do that for us?

I would assume that they are indeed going to leave us worth these current and previous weeks A.K.A. the worst choices possible.
