problem with using fastball special as team-up

I'm playing the game through Steam on a windows 7 laptop.

I used fastball special as a team-up power, and selected Hawkeye(Modern). When he landed, it did damage but neither his blue nor red power fired (i.e. no new friendly counters appeared despite plenty of available basic red and blue tiles).

Anyone else having similar issues?

    I have had this happen, tossed up PX once, landed and did nothing. I think the color is randomly chosen upon landing, if it chooses a passive, out of luck (which explains why KK sometimes heals when she lands instead of her more useful ability i was hoping for )

    And since no match 5+ was in play, it would do nothing as it is a conditional passive (speed shot).
