I've read that it takes 170K ISO to max out a 3*, so I've been saving, and hopefully I can level 3 as a group. DDQ and token drops have been **** for me lately, unfortunately. Did get that green cover from last PvE for HT.

Someone mentioned that leveling your 3* will make your 2* fairly useless, and wanted to see what people's experience had been. Does that occur if you PLAY with those characters or just having a leveled character in your roster does this scaling effect.

It really depends. As long as you level your characters evenly, it's nothing to worry about.

But if you have level 250 Invisible woman, she's going to heavily effect what characters you can and can't use normally.

    366K for a 4*

    120K for a 3*

I think the 170K number was before the level cost reduction they made a little while ago

As was already mentioned, 170k was before the reduction. It's 120k now. I believe scaling is based on your highest 4 leveled characters. There are several different approaches to leveling, and all can work. I was impatient to participate in PvP, so I soft capped at 94 until I had 2 top tier 3 star.png I leveled to 166 in one go. Leveling more initially, or not going to 166 immediately is more conservative, but also safer.

There's several factors that cause me to not use 2 star.png much anymore. I'd separate them into offensive and defensive benefits. Offensively, 3 star.png do more match damage, and have abilities that not only do more damage but are more impactful on the board. Defensively, 3 star.png have significantly more health, so you get more value for health packs, and can be less worried about a bad opposition cascade during match. Especially as my opponents scaled higher, I've found my 2 star.png too squishy to be relied upon.

I only use my 2 star.png rarely in PvE now. When boosted they're quite usable, though still not as good as a 166 3 star.png . The only one that I find I use with any regularity is Original Black Widow, as she excels in goon nodes. There are always the essential nodes though. My 2 star.png are used primarily for Deadpool's Daily Quest. For that, you can easily get by with as few as 4. The team I use is Thor, OBW, Storm, but sometimes I sub in Ares for Thor in Third Time's The Charm.

Any tips in playing PVE to assure you rank higher and grab some covers? Since the up in health packs, it seems much more difficult to place and stay placed. I wondered about timing and getting the max points with nodes, since they recharge---what timing is best to minimize overall PVE time(since it seems it can be daunting how much time it takes sometimes and occasionally life & schedule gets in the way).

Does anyone try for placement/gold tokens from lightning rounds on a regular basis? Or better to wait until roster is more fleshed out to save strong teams for PVE and PVP?

there is a good pve guide in the tips section, but generally do full clears on the 8-hr schedule and ~2 hrs before the sub end start a grind and try and grind as much as reasonable while leaving enough health packs to start the next sub. when the sub flips, start that immendiately. if you can do that marginally/reasonably well, t50 should be cake and t20 or t10 is possible, depending on the event and how many are putting in the time to grind the nodes to 1. during the grind, don't worry about hitting every node, hit the nodes with the highest points that you can clear the fastest. if you give yourself enough time, grind all the essentials and hard nodes, but remember you probably need some health packs for your first clear of the next sub. that is how you succeed in pve, maximizing the grind and sub flip.

absolutely people go for placement/tokens in LRs. at a minimum, any roster should clear the seed nodes as many time as they can, especially if they need iso (and the only ones that don't need iso are the handful of pve rosters soft capped at 94 or 104 or whatever - EVERYONE else either actively needs iso or will need iso in the future). there is also a good LR guide in the tips area, but what I have found is if you're only doing seeds and leaving it, do it early and quick. if you get hit a couple of times it could reduce the number of seeds you get - that's what it seems anyway, so you want to finish the seeds before a hit comes in. that gets to the low 200s most times and then hits start coming in. however, if you want a token, you want to finish strong, so you have to enter the LR in the first minute to get the seeds, but don't play until about 30-40 minutes left. then you can get through the seeds and get several matches in towards the end and if you can finish in the 280-300 point range, that should be enough for a token. its really variable as to the activity from one LR to the next, so sometimes its a free for all and hits are being constantly traded and sometimes it is more quiet and easier.
  • Im surprised no one has mentioned this yet. But you NEED to commit yourself to a top 100 alliance that is slightly more pve focused; AND that is willing to carry your lower pvp score. This is the fastest way to get more 3* covers and consequently, better PVP placement. I was lucky enough to get adopted by thunderkittens during this phase and hopefully an alliance will do it for you.

How is everyone managing Shield Simulator? I did alright and that was some easy covers, but I made a last minute push on the last day from about 1100 and only got up to about 1650 before kept getting knocked down. (I wanted that Magneto cover!). It seemed like I was left relatively alone until I hit around 1100, but I did a little bit at a time over a couple of days. I don't know if that's typical or just that everyone was busy with other events.

Thanks for the tips everyone, for July I gained 58 unique level 3&4 covers, which has definitely made playing easier. Hopefully next month will be able to start to transition three 3*-characters to active daily play.
