Funny, to level a toon from 15 to 141 costs 172K ISO

    52000 ISO sells for $99

Roughly $350 if you wanted to level a toon to max.

And that sounds perfectly fine doesn't it?

I'd pay as well to save me some time grinding, but these rates range from "insane" to "fraud" in my vocabulary, do you agree?

I mean, who did come up with this nonsense in the first place? (or, how can they be THAT greedy?) icon_rolleyes.gif

The game currently rewards those who started early - those who joined the events to get covers and ISOs etc. But for people like me who started about 1 month ago, I find that there aren't enough ISOs to max out my characters while at the same time trying out the newer ones. Developers need to do proper fun balancing, or different difficulty modes.

Right, at present I do not see a way out of this with the current model, a new player really cannot compete, it's not pay to win, it's no way to win if you are just starting.

This is the reason behind mudflation in MMOs, the only way to bring in fresh blood is to make it so new players can come in and compete. When I played MMOs, I did not play to be the casual raider, I played to be a the top of the raiding food chain, and if there was no fast way to get up and competitive then they would never have been able to keep my interest.
Well, that's probably one of the reasons why they have introduced the new scaling system, and why people with beginner rosters litter the top10 ranks in brackets. The Devs want new players to be able to compete. They are focusing on new/casuals/hardcores at the expense of all the mid-tier players, and personally I don't have a huge problem with that. Otherwise, like you said, there would be no way for new players to catch up with veterans. It's a hugely delicate balance issue and if you examine the past two PvE events from this context it might be a little easier to sympathize with the Dev's perspective. On the flip side, by basically refusing to communicate their intentions and reasoning, the Devs have given themselves a really short leash and basically zero outs.

If that's what they're doing, I have a huge problem with that. As a formerly new player, my expectation in a tourney or event was a bit of ISO and a standard recruit token or two until I fleshed out my roster. Once I transitioned from 1* to 2*, I expected to place a little higher and start filling out my 2* characters, and now that I have a strong set of 2*, my expectation is to compete for 3* characters until I can push for top placements.

Stepping in to a game, any game, brand new and facerolling to top spot in competitive events is ridiculous and should be beyond the wildest dreams of even the most deluded and egotistical of gamers. Games take work, and if you've ever played one you know that. You didn't go straight to Gamon, you grinded your *** off and earned Hearts, 1/2 at a time until you were ready!

But I don't think the developers are catering to new players and giving them a specific advantage in these PvE or PvP events. I think they just plain screwed the pooch and threw the entire game out of balance. But hey, it's Superbowl weekend, right? Their minds where elsewhere.
  • It is also fun that the devs have no idea about how their own game rolls, and obviously don't play it. See how the OSCORP HEROIC was advertized
We've also heard your feedback that the more expensive boosts are making the extra-tough missions impossible so we've taken care to make them available as mission and progression rewards in the event. There's a lot of Iso-8 up for grabs too. We've had a lot of fun building this event, we hope you enjoy it as well!

They actually believe (or want you to) that the ISO prizes are really good this round. In reality, even if you get the first place in your bracket (big IF) and grab the 5000 iso reward... the total you get in this event is by far the worst you can get in any pve event so far since I started, make that 2 months or so - the map never resets, and so do the rewards - you can do the math.

(OT: Also big thanks to having more fun building it than us playing it - nice job at recycling a pve map and messing up everything else, just brilliant!)

This event has by far the highest ISO prizes we've ever seen. So...there's that.

The more I think about it, the more I'd be willing to buy an in game Iso doubler.

I would support an ISO doubler, that would be great.

Sure thing, I heard it is in the works. They only need to figure out if make it cost 49,99 or 99,99.

Of course, it lasts one day.
