PVP 1000 point progression/4* transition

With the advent of the new high point scoring system in PVP and the introduction of 10 health packs, the 1000 points progression seems more achievable than ever. I personally have made it in both the Rocket and Groot and the Blade event, however I felt it was more luck based than anything else. With that in mind, I would like to ask the pro's if they have any tips or advice they may impart to the rest of us.

My observations so far.

- requires all three characters at high levels. I had a max blade and a lvl 120 rocket and groot before boost. My other two team members usually consist of thor/daken at lvl 166, cap(166)/IM40(120), thor/deadpool(140),

- at around the 600+ mark, attacks start coming in slowly, at 800+ mark, attacks come a bit more frequently and I have yet to sit at 1000+ for my than 3 minutes without being attacked.

-points are hard to come by after about 700, most teams are only worth 35ish points or less with the 50 pointers usually belonging to IF/Hulkbuster teams. This really slows down the climb

- I started R&G event on the last day and Blade event on the first day, I have not noticed much of a difference in the top scores however the Blade event still has a day to run at the time of writing.

- I do not remember the slices I'm playing but it was either 1 and 3 or 3 and 5

- my current strategy is to play to about 650, then regen to full health packs then push to around 950, shield up for 3 hours, do 1 hop to hopefully 1000 or just under, shield, then do another hop if necessary. in R&G, i managed to get to 980ish for my first shield, then break 1000 on my first hop, after exiting the battle, i found i was hit and taken back down to 980ish but got given the cover anyway. In the blade event, I manage to push pass 1000 points using a super whale at around the 960 mark with a 60point win against a lvl 200ish carnage team (I cant believe someone already has a level 200+ carnage!!), shielded and was hit less than 3 minutes after the shield.

So to all the pros out there, what should i be doing? Should I be maxing more 3 stars, maxing specific 3 stars, choosing a different time slice, shielding more frequently at lower scores?

Your strategy is a pretty good strategy and is how a lot of people get to 1000. More advanced rosters just make it easier to accomplish, by allowing you to sit out unshielded for longer at higher point totals.

The first thing you do is figure out your equilibrium point. This is typically the point total where you can sit comfortably unshielded without getting massacred. Based on your strategy it seems like this is around 650 for you. Once you figure out that point, you can either climb to it and wait until your health packs regenerate, or you can go as high as you can and let the retals come in. If the people hitting you are climbing higher than you, it will make your next push easier. The latter only really works if you think you will be able to beat the teams that beat you. After that, you pretty much push as high as you can with all your health packs and shield like you currently do.

You are running into point issues when you hit 700 because people are either shielding beyond that point or are teams you don't feel you are ready to handle at that point (IF/Hulkbuster). Don't be afraid of the skip button. High end players can spend 1000s of ISO taken in increments of 10 in order to find good targets. Once you are actually shielded, you can use that time to line up good queues. This aspect is where out of game communication is a great help, as other people can tell you when high value targets are out so you know when to search and can minimize the skip tax.

If you only care about the 1000 progression, then you should pick one of the slices with the big point scorers so that there are more high value targets to choose from. These can change based on event, but the big groups tend to stick to specific slices.

Starting late can be bad for you if you don't have a lot of maxed buffed characters, as a lot of people try to minimize shield usage by climbing in the last 3 or 8 hours. If you don't have a strong roster, you should not be out for long periods of time within 3 hours to the end of an event. Less than 8 can still be dangerous, but not as dangerous.

what is the best course when all 6 of the options that they cycle through when skipping are less than ideal? there has to be other options out there, but every node gives the exact same ones over and over again. once even twice in a row - the same guy! wanna skip this guy? i'll take your 10 iso and offer him again? frustrating.
