It's here! Who'd have thought they'd do it so quickly?

Just in time for the final grind of the Carnage PvE. That's just mean.

Carnage PvE? No, I think not. The bloodbath that is High Stakes PvP, very much a necessity.
  • and here I thought this would be a complaint post.

Honestly, 10 health packs will let me be more free to take risks.

Especially since characters are dying after one tinykitty match.
  • Next step, separate stockpiles for HPs gained via rewards and regenerating HPs... icon_e_wink.gif

Come on, D3, make it happen!

I talked briefly with them at Phoenix Comic-Con about this. Health packs don't make them money. They're concerned about it causing burnout as much as we are. If this change goes over well, they may take it even further...
  • Did they give out 5 free packs? Or is 10 now the standard amount of packs?

    MR. GAMEEE AND WATCH!

It looks like they just patched it and let our existing packs go up.

    I was around 7 when I checked so I obviously didn't start at 10...

wow I misunderstood the question. icon_redface.gif

    Yes 10 is the standard.

If they don't make them money, then why don't they just remove them entirely?

In theory that sounds good but be careful what you wish for.

Could result in real grindfest horror show without any health packs or lack off to act as a break.

As it stands well pleased about the 10 health packs. It should be good for days when I have work. Will be interesting to see how it effects PvP etc.

Because the game would be miserable to do well in. I will quit for sure if they make that change.

PvE events would be outrageous grind fests. With no health packs, it would just be about playing all the time. I already don't like ten health packs, it means that if I want top 10/50/100 in pve I need to play twice as much, and thats already a lot of grinding. Needing to dust every single node every time to get top 50? Screw that.

The best change they ever implemented was true healing. In order to do well, you had to go kill goons and heal up with OBW to save health packs, since if you didn't the guys behind or ahead of you were. It was miserable.

With just 5 health packs, one wipe and I have to use up 3 of it to have another go with my A team. Another wipe and I either have to use another team, or just stop. 10 health packs will let me go on and on with my A team. So I feel this is kind of working against their direction to promote roster diversity?

I don't think it works against it. I have a diverse roster and sometimes my supposed A team doesn't do as well against certain nodes so i switch around instead of repeating them in that node. Especially now with the weekly buffed characters, i find i play around a lot more with team compositions. My B and C teams are not necessarily worse than my A team. They're just sort of specialised for doing certain things that my A team doesn't do well in.

It'll be interesting to see what effect it has on burnout, because honestly, I am going to have to grind WAY more on this carnage PVE now to keep my top 10 spot, with everyone else playing way more matches... more health packs means you can play more all the time, which means people who have no lives are going to be the only ones winning these events now.

On the other hand, 10 health packs are going to make it much easier to play this game totally casually. It'll let me play for a few hours at a time if I have nothing else to do (so annoying to have to stop doing something you're enjoying because you simply aren't allowed to play anymore), and maybe I can hit those 800 score rewards in PVP now, but I think it's going to ruin PVE more than it already is.

Okay, points taken. I hadn't really thought about it like that.

I'm not super competitive anymore tbh, so it doesn't affect me either way.

I don't see how people are saying this will increase the grind.

It is only increasing the size of your Health Pack wallet, not the rate at which you earn Health Packs.

The only gain you have is if you use them all before bed and sleep for 6 hours, then play all 10 when you wake up before work, then not play for another 6 hours during work allowing all 10 (only 5 more) to accrue.

If people who are grinding are accustomed to waking up every 3 hours at night to grind their fresh packs, they no longer have to do that and can instead grind in the morning. No change in actual Health Pack usage.

If people are accustomed to playing through their 5 health packs at lunch, and still do that... no change. If they decide to stop playing at lunch, and instead play after work, no change in Health Pack usage.

I don't see where the sky is falling in PVE because of this change in how many Health Packs you can carry at one time.
