I don't think that 1K is feasible at this point. And I'm getting stuck with facing teams that are just maxed out beyond my ability to compete. I don't even think shield hopping (such as it is now) would even make a difference.
Usually I don't buy two shields in a PvP (In fact most often I don't buy shield at all). But this time I want to try again later. All I was given was fights against tanks for 30 points or less. Maybe after a good night of sleep I will find more interesting fights0 -

This was brutal, was hoping to hit 1000 after getting there for the first time in SG event. My only really workable team in this event was an 1-5-5, lvl 130 blade, fully covered lvl 130 Laken, and 3-3-4 LThor. Got to about 850 unshielded, put up an 8 hour shield, went to bed, woke up and couldn't get points quick enough to outpace the hits, and all the opponents I could see were 240+, finally after burning two shields, just gave up because I don't really care about Spidey and immediately dropped another 200 points.0

Yeah I no longer care about placement rewards (I'll try for top 100 if I need the cover), but I've been consistently hitting 800 for the last few PVP's for the first time. Was really wanting to hit the 1K for the HB black as it would be my 5th, but I simply cannot stay above 600 points. On top of that, I don't have a stellar team to move me up quickly and shield.
It's just all very frustrating. Between this and the absolute slog of 7 day PVEs I'm just exhausted from trying to keep up with everything.0 -
I happily have a tuned hulk and a tuned blade.
That being said - I noticed that the boosted 150 daken, and 150 wolverine ( 2 star) are perversely effective - overpowered in my view. The few that I fought were a mind bending pain in the **** - and they should have been a pushover.
I don't need covers anymore for the most part so I'm just trying to finish high in the season. This arbitrary power up of ancillary characters in these PVP feature matches is dicey. The idea that you can have some character who isn't the feature character who is more important / does more damage than the feature character seems backwards.
But hey.. Whatever. I've said before that my strategy is to have a stable of fully upgraded characters, then a much larger mass of characters upgraded to 100, now 120 - so in any pvp match you have a decently competitive crew.0 -
wow, I give up (for this PvP ). I reached 900 after breaking my second shield. but was never close to 1000 Honestly, trying to go from 800 to 1000 in one hop and with a team not completely buffed was foolish
The attacks came faster than mine and now I have to go to work!! I'm going to stay unshield until the end, it's time to give back some of the points Ive taken!
But soon the weekly buffed characters will be some of my maxed charcaters and I'll have my revenge ...(or not )0 -

Your point is well made, but is also confusing for me. I've never gotten to the 1000 point level in a pvp. I'm usually happy around 800. This being said, my current ranking in the season is quite high. Like real high. If there are a bunch of guys who normally get 1000 or more in pvps, then there is obviously some funky things going on with brackets / slices / or whatever the term is - because let's just say that my current ranking, with no pvp finishes near 1000 points, will leave me with enough heroic recruit tokens to choke a billygoat.0 -
Yippee! 1000 points for the first time ever.
I'm sure that with my roster a better player would be getting 1000+ every event, but as Sun-Tzu said, "Always have at least 100 levels more than your opponent, leave skill for those sneaky types who don't have overwhelming brute force". Or something like that.
I decided not to go up against Gipsy Danger in the end, any idea of beating a maxed Blade, Professor X and Hulkbuster was just a pipe dream.0 -
Hit 1K last night using several different teams. The last one I used was Blade+Hulk+Daken. Didn't get as many attacks as usual, and I actually won about 4. Not bad. Leaving Blade or Daken alive too long is pretty risky, and chewing through both of them means Hulk has plenty of time to gather AP and have a good chance at knocking someone down.
With the Health Pack increase, I was able to go from 300 to 1k without using a single shield. Usually, I try to limit myself to a single 3 hour shield, since it's basically free if you hit all the HP progressions. Most of the time would end up 1 match short because I'd run out of health packs. If I had had just two more packs, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get the last cover. Now that the limit is 10, it's pretty much guaranteed.
All of these changes are making the game fun again. Glad they have all been gradual.0 -

yeah, this season I learned how much luck in brackets plays a part. last season I averaged mid-600s/event (6600 for the season)and ended up 174th - that was a pretty easy bracket. this season, I've hit 800 a couple of times, 1000 once (never hit 750 before) and am struggling to stay above 500th place in my bracket (currently 529th), but this bracket is filled with xmen, the best, deadpools tacos, et.al. - all top guys. not sure how this can be remedied, I think its mostly luck when you enter the first event.0 -

As a player who's well-mired in the 2-3* transition, this was the first time I've ever made it to 750 points in PvP, and it's precisely because Wolverine and Daken synergize so well.0 -

I was wrong!! Took virtually no hits overnight and was able to push to 960 before shielding, found a 50 point match a couple hours later, broke shields and got my HB ! Not even reshielding because I could care less about the placement rewards. Woo!!0 -

Well I hit 575, but it looks like 650 is more trouble than it's worth. So that's my first 50HP event, but there'll be no top-100. Would've been nice to get a Spidey cover, but I'll take what I can get.0

Well I had given up halfway through yesterday as conveyed by the tone of my previous post. I had apparently lost enough points that my value was paltry and my team of Hulk, LThor, Blade was daunting enough to not be worth it. Then this morning I was able to play enough matches to get me to 967 without an retaliations.
Though as I mentioned, I didn't re-shield after hitting 1K. Within minutes I was down 200 points and as of right now my score is 608. So I'm down about 400 points since my previous post0 -
Shesh, that was scary. I got hit for -110 points in the very last minute of the event! Fortunately, I'd learned my lesson from Stay on Target and spent an hour grinding up to 867 points, 49th position. Finished at 81st. With Spider-Man, I finally have every on my roster for Deadpool's Daily Quest!
As an aside, how good does my roster need to be to reach 1000 points for the progression reward without shielding? I can get to ~850 points or so consistently, but after that I get matched with teams that shred my health packs. It seems to me that you need a well covered and leveled featured character, and at least one well covered and leveled boosted character to get to 1000 points. I currently only have 4 166, none of which were boosted this week. Not complaining, just trying to plan as I think this should be my next goal.0 -
so although hulk is powered up(which was a deterrent for me last week), mine is finally maxed so I can take him to PVPland. I'm running Shulkie/Hulk/Blade, and really, a properly specced blade cuts thru opponents so just have someone to support him
and I suppose increased health packs has made it less nightmarish for me as well
Doing High Stakes on my stream if anyone's interested
ended at 877 points with no attacks at all. I guess Shulkie/Hulk/Max Blade is enough of a deterrent0 -

The stronger the better!
Like you I usually suffer few attacks under 800. Therefore it's the mark where I rest before starting to run for 1000!
In Blade PvP my team was 290 (buffed blade)/166/166 and I was attacked a lot above 800 of course but above 600 too...
...in Torch PvP I filled a 290/270/240 team and I had a way safer trip (though not without risk!) to the 1000 mark!
