I wonder whether they will have a blade pvp (High Stakes iirc). I remember for the last few seasons they always skip the blade pvp.0

Based on the prizes and dates, I'm guessing we get Blade's pvp this time, giving out something else (probably more Mororo covers) with 1st place giving Carnage, leading into Carnage pvp.
Which I hope is called "Señor Carñage Mortgage".0 -

I actually looking forward to the 1k progression, which should be IMHB black that would make my HB 424.0 -

If it is, I'll be able to finish HB. Nearly burned myself out getting 1st in his release events, but through those and some fortunate tokens in Ultron I'm up to 5/4/3. Would love to finish him off if black is offered at 1k.0 -
In light of this weeks buffs, anyone have any teams they are planning to use?0

Well, Yelena, obviously.0 -

But mostly seriously, the compatible team list doesn't have Squirrel Girl, so no cheating from there. Not that I looked.
My roster for boosted is rubbish, in that they're low level, so I'm sticking with my maxed Luke Cage and Lazy Cap. Seems to be working okay so far.0 -
So.. A non buffed character, Cyclops, is able to do over 8k damage if the weather is right? Come on.
I've played long enough but I feel sorry for the long term players who have no doubt a host of 166 level characters who now are somewhere between stunted and useless in the face of the Cyclops, luke cages and iron fists of the world. Nevermind the folks who invested in the likes of beast, she hulk and the characters of that era.
Don't get me wrong. It won't stop me from getting top 50 at worst even ignoring squirrel girl as a character since she is so embarrassing but come on but let's get real.
Next round my fully loaded blade should come in handy.0 -

Great idea! I will recruit her right away!0 -
Hopefully Squirrel Girl will discourage at least some of the 2* teams from being exclusively Daken/Wolverine/loaner (or under-covered feature). Other than a couple Ares, 2-3 OBW's and one Stormneto, last round had no variety in 2* land.0

Goodness. A pinned Cage will serve you well anywhere, anytime. I've got mine well upgraded and have abandoned all other goals beyond maxing him. Even with a turd squirrel girl, if you have a decent ( insert 3 star dude here ) you'll be fine. Crippling the match, then throwing shields is as good of a way to do it as any. Short of a 4 star steamroller, you're set.
Even with a decently upgraded Colossus and Miss Marvel I've found myself sustaining lots of damage from the buffed 2 star now 150 level turds, even though they aren't my go to people - I have just used them for throw away single matches for points. My loaded hulk, >200 xf, an loaded Steve are my go to guys.
Speaking of Yelena.
As a guy who has a well developed stable, and also happens to be a proud Ukrainian and sympathetic to Russia - I can't bring myself to retain the services of Yelena. Thinly veiled ethnic intolerance, even against one's own ethnicity, is still inappropriate. (JM)
So she is relegated, like bullseye, to a recurring annoyance in the non PVP levels.
It may cost me a few points on the ladder but.. GOTDAYUM! lol.0 -

Yeah, I have to agree with you both on that. I tend to find that a high level cage deters more attacks than the buffed maxed hulk. Maxing my IF and Cage are my current goals right now, with my only problem being I don't have the covers set right for Cage.
Seems all of Cages powers are great, so which one to put at 3 is sort of rough. I see people recommending all sorts of combos with him, and all the reasoning sounds well. However mine is 4/5/4 so both my yellow and black are gimmped. Sort thinking I will wait to see what color shows up next for me and go with that for now. On the other hand, if I saw a convincing argument for one build to rule them all, I would likely just buy covers to get right.0 -
I tried cage/fist/r&g team on the last pvp and I got attacked a ton even by low level teams. Then I switched cage to captain marvel and attacks suddenly stopped. The fact is that non-buffed cage just isn't that scary on defence. Ai can't use his black correctly and you can easily deny yellow until he is dead. Protect tile is not that great when other buffed chars have higher health for free.
I think for this pvp I will go for sq/captain marvel/fury. Solid rainbow team good on offence and defence.0 -
I am having an awesome time with SG, Captain Marvel, and She Hulk. It's pretty fun to have useful moves after three matches of almost any color.
SG is at 120 (210 boosted) Carol is at 140 (200), and Shulk is at 120 (169).
I'd imagine you could swap in Doc Oc for shulk and also be pretty effective - especially against cage/if teams - but obviously he's not as irritating on defense as shulk's green.
SG purple is surprisingly deadly.0 -
The main trouble with Squirrel Girl is her yellow. It's quite fun seeing the opponent's yellow fire just as I was about to use Nuts. It's a double-whammy, not only is she giving me ammunition, she's also not making a move.
She's always worth leaving for last, just for that.0 -
SG's yellow can also help you out of uncomfortable positions.. those times when if you make the only available match you are setting up a 4match in the enemies strongest color or a 5 match for them... just pop her yellow off and let them make the match leaving you with the strong move.0
-
I've been using Captain Marvel and She-Hulk. They work pretty well, and the 290/240/240 teams, while not exactly a deterrent, can at least serve as a "someone else is probably easier" team while you're climbing and not worth that many points. I don't need anything in this PVP, so I'm not as invested as I would be otherwise.0
-
Got a Lazy Thor from the CoverSquirrel token.. so... eh.. not bad. Now I'm getting attacked like a pile-on when someone fumbles a football.0

I've got a 261 SG (5/3/5) that I've been putting in with Hood and Gamora (0/5/5).
Yellow: My four protect tiles are 135 (297 if 80%).
Purple: 2133 + 405 per tile.
Green: 4 * 3 rounds of AP generation followed by 4 * 2457 damage.
Red: 1490 damage for 5 AP.
Black: Strength 127 Strike tiles (and Gamora tanks Red/Black/Green)
Blue: Hood tanks it, but the team doesn't use it.
Obviously you are going to take down the Hood first, because he's only got 4,000 Health and he's draining your AP.
If you leave Gamora for last, you risk taking an even bigger shot from her Bad Reputation fueled Razor's Edge rage and inevitable AI cascades.
If you leave SG for last, you risk taking a shot from her green, which can do up to 9,828 damage if all four nukes go off (or a % thereof if you can hunt a couple down).
I thought about replacing Hood with a 152 Hulkbuster (0/1/4) to add another 6,000 Health to the team (and some red fuel for Gamora, plus a use for blue AP), but he ends up tanking on two of Gamora's colors and using the black to generate a measly 204 in strike tiles and only 5 AP. His Blue is great for hiding SG's nukes if he waits to use it until the greens are already on the board, but most likely it just cripples the team's best damage output.
As it is, I've been getting a ton of defensive wins with this team... especially since a lot of people in transition haven't been developing their SG and are stuck with the loaner or a barely leveled replacement. My losses have all come from people with decent SGs paired with boosted 166 3*s or maxed out 4hor and XForce (likely a remnant of the pre-nerf times).0
