Best PVP slot?

So is there any science behind what the best PVP slot is?

I have seen people say late times are good, others say prime time ending times are better for shield hopping. Some say it's a great idea to only join when you are ready to play, others say join up right away for the best slot. Does playing for progression vs placement matter when picking a slot? Really busy slots have high scores so easy to get point but bad progression?

So what's the breakdown everyone? Any modern tips with two pvp almost over with the point changes in effect?

  • When and how often do you play?
What type of roster do you have?
Do you go for progression or rank?
Do you shield hop, and if so how much?

Well, I was asking for everyone in general, not really me specifically. Wondering what everyone is seeing.

Myself, I am happy to get 1k progression, so that is my overall target. Last two rounds that has placed me in high enough ranking to get 2 3*s from it. So over all 3 3*s, 1 4*, and some ISO seems to be an ok reward for my roster level (3 transition, two maxed and quite a few at ~ 120, many with maxed covers just ISO constrained).

With a non-optimal roster, I find I am a pretty easy target for everyone once I get up over ~ 750ish or so. What I have been doing is starting early and pushing as much as I can with over 1.5 days in the PVP so I can run unshielded when activity is somewhat lower. After I hit over 800, I start to shield hop to 1k, then shield up for the rest of the event. My goal is to hit 1k right around the time a 24 hour shield will take me to the end.

Its not optimal as I am spending a touch more than I am happy with on shields as I get at least 1 3, 1 8 and 1 24. Plus at least 200 on health packs. But, I am assuming this is sort term as I don't expect them to leave well enough alone right now, and the 4* progression will go up to 1200 or so (which will be out of my reach). So, I am taking advantage while its available. If nothing else, its getting me ok ISO to push up defensive troops.

I am sure there is a better way to do it, but this is the best I found with my roster at the moment. Curious what everyone else is seeing in light of the recent changes.
