For me it stung less for the 3* nerfs (Ragnarock, spidey cmags etc) but after all the resources spent on a 4* that was quite a good reminder yes

I swore off spending after the "true healing" nerfs. But I was so, so tempted to buy my 4hor to go with the XF covers I had earned and slowly used earned HP to finish.

The nerfs came just in time to refresh my memory about not buying. Have that worthless XF all by himself at the top of my roster - reminding me never to spend money, and 4*'s in general aren't worth trying to get or spending the resources to level.

Darn, you were lucky. I bought 7 Thor covers 2 weeks before the announcement went live.

I suppose it's still a bit better than the people that bought HP during the sale to spend on Thor while the nerfs were still unannounced in-game (The giant SALE announcement was much more important to announce in-game, you know).

Anyway, I'll be sure to remind everyone about this every once in a while

Whenever I see I Xforce and GT, I feel a sense of achievement. I got all my covers through tokens, placement rewards and progression rewards. I also spend a large amount of iso in them which was before the iso reduction.

Granted, they are not as OP as before, but I think they are still fairly good. I have Xforce before the buff and he earned me a lot of rewards. I max GT after she was nerf but she is still quite good now.

Edit:- to the OP I do agree that there's is always a possibility that characters will be nerf. So I always resisted buying covers out right. Feel less painful when the nerf strikes

Okay, I get that pretty much no one is happy with the state of X-Force and 4or in comparison to their glory days. I can certainly sympathize with the folks who dumped cash into them, whether it be in close proximity to the nerfs or not is irrelevant. But can we dispense with the ridiculous hyperbole that they are "useless?" Seriously, it just sounds petulant. I still see both of them all over the place, boosted for events or not. They're still hella good characters. Claiming otherwise is just sulking.

Gotta say, I feel for the "nerf victims," because I personally feel that whenever breaking something that already exists is the answer, the question is IMO pretty obviously wrong, but d@mn...

I finally got to use a fully covered XF as a loaner. Oh my. Oh my oh my. Oh... wow.

He'll do just fine for me, provided I ever get him built...

For you to spend money on a game that is always changing/evolving(de-evolving)/updating/patching/nerfing/buffing and NOT think that there was a chance it could happen to those 2 characters is quite remarkable.

I learned that lesson when spidey was nerfed last year.

At that time I wasn't aware of the rags and wolverine nerfs before it since I didn't follow the forums. Since then I've known with absolute certainty that it would NEVER be 'safe' to spend money in this game.

Yet knowing that I still do spend money. I'm okay with character nerfs and buffs. To each their own.

I'm OK with the idea that characters can change. Things I am not OK with:

-The developers reworked Xforce to be powerful. Then they introduced other 4* characters at a similar power level. Then they let them sit at that power level for a while. Then they introduced 3* characters that were just slightly less powerful (Iron fist, cyclops, Cage, and such). This all created the impression that these 4* characters would be the benchmark that others would be balanced against. In fact, Demiurge_Will even posted around that time that 4* characters were meant to have 160% health of a 3* character and do 160% of the damage. 4Thor and Xforce are nowhere near that figure now.
-Having 2 characters be the clear best options, wasn't healthy for the game. I can agree on that. However, in typical fashion, rather than tweaking the characters in question to bring them into balance, the developers took a sledgehammer to things that people had spent significant amounts of money and time building up.
-Personally, I bought 7 Thor covers 2 weeks before the changes were announced. I was offered the wonderful chance to sell back my 12 covered Thor for 2250 HP, less than the cost of a single cover.
-For more than a week after the Thor nerfs were announced on the forum, rather than alert the rest of the game community, the developers decided to run a giant popup banner in the game advertising their "SALE!!!!" instead. How many people do you think bought HP during that time to buy covers for Thor? Good thing those people were all then given the opportunity to sell her back for the boosted price of 1/13th her buying price! 2500 hp for 13 covers? That's totally reasonable!
-Xforce's signature move is now directly worse than several other 3* green moves. His name is Xforce, and Xforce is now arguably his worst skill.

And then to top it all off, rather than face up to any of the well-crafted critiques of these changes with reasoning, numbers, targets, and figures, the developers did a short video that addressed other concerns with the patch, and then hid.

So.... Yeah.... It's the end of the month, and I just got paid! In a parallel universe where the developers did small, reasonable changes to Xforce and Thor while bringing up the other 4*s slightly to compete and giving small buffs where needed to other characters to make them usable, I just spent 100 dollars on this game to get some covers for Kingpin/Professor/Hulkbuster! In this universe, I searched around for other mobile games a month or two ago, and I now split my time between this game, Terra Battle, Puzzle and Dragons, and Clash of Clans. My money has instead gone to Terra Battle, where the developers are constantly giving back to the community. I don't need to spend money on Terra BAttle, but I like to support them, and so I do. I used to enjoy supporting MPQ, but the developers have ruined that.

Well, good thing we have characters now like Carnage and Prof X to take over being the clear best choices. It seems like the Xforce/Thor changes were totally motivated by balance and not money..........

Just another reminder not to trust the developers with any of my money, I suppose.

Same here (and have battled you several times in the process!).

Every time I see X-Force/Lady Thor in my roster all I think is "time to use them to get another 1000 points". They're still a great team. Just don't waste money on buying covers. You will always just end up regretting it. If you're going to buy HP save it for shields and slots.

I'm about 95% convinced the 4* re-balancing (to no where near the stated 160% strength of a 3*) has everything to do with the rotating weekly buff schedule and nothing to do with actual balance. I mean, can you even imagine an old X-Force boosted to 350? You would literally need no other characters.

XF still needs a small tune up, but overall I'm happy with Thor as she currently lies.

I have bought quite a few covers, and not regretted a single one of them. (Well, maybe that second IMHB black that I could have just won during Blade).

1 Thor to go from 166 4/5/4 to 3/5/5 - Worth it.
1 XF to go from 220 4/5/3 to 5/5/3 pre nerf - Worth it.
1 TGT to go from 220 5/3/4 to 5/3/5 pre nerf - Worth it.
3 IF like the second he came out to get 4/5/4 - Worth it. (Pre nerf, did not sell for refund)
2 IMHB to get to 5/5/2 while he was boosted and the from Psyloke a while back to hit 5/5/3. - Worth it.

There are situations where you want a cover right now to help you in the next 4 months and not 4 months from now when you can realistically get it. They are far far between, but they exist.

Until this is properly addressed, I still won't be spending another dime on the game, unfortunately.

I understand what OP is saying and largely agree. I bought last cover for XF and GT. XF long before nerf and GT a week or so prior to announcement. I don't necessarily regret the purchases, I got good use out of the XF, but would have not bought the GT if had known and just waited to win or pull on token. But like OP every time i see them i think hard about spending money on this game.

First, They were both overpowered and needed tweaking. That is fine, but there were surgical strikes ( ) that could have been made to green and black on XF that lowered the power without the carpet bombing that was done. Try half the AP drain or get the AP from the board not the opponent? Now his black is high damage, but as often as not hurts your team as much as the opponents on AP denial and green is a joke. On GT one or two more charged times from blue would have made it ok. Not nearly as big of a deal as XF. By the way where are these other charged tile characters that required this change in the first place? Rags? I hope that one lousy character was not what precipitated the GT change and others are coming.

Finally, I still use the characters regularly. However, it is not because they are still great as implied in posts above, it is because this is where my time to push for covers went and ISO. They are what i have to play with. Had i known that they would have over nerfed as they did i would have focused my efforts elsewhere, in game or out.

Perhaps I should introduce you to the cesspool that is now Sentry .

I basically have learned my lesson from Sentry . I bought three green covers for him. Less than 3 Months later a nerf so hard, that you have to respec him to 5 /3 /5 so he has some defense when you are FORCED to use him as the required character. I didn't sell him, because I stupidly thought they would somehow recognize they did an over reach beat down nerf, and change him back a little. Not to mention the sell price at the time was insulting. In fact sell prices still are rather insulting, but that is another story entirely.


Almost every character I bought at least one single cover for has been nerfed.
Magneto I bought his BLUE at the time to go to 5 blue for the matching critical fun. They nerfed him and turned the blue into yellow (best specced at 3) and then they had a new blue which is best specced at 5 while mine was 3. I was thinking, how lazy is that. At least you could have moved the colors around.

Lazy Daken I bought one blue cover for, and he was nerfed.


After that I have earned my covers for my 4 star characters. So now I use four star Xforce and Disney Princess Thor because they are still decent at times when one or the other is powered up or I do not have better options.
