What is your "Go To" team?

When all the chips are down and you have tried every other combination, what team do you pull out while saying "I guess it's time to bring out my ace in the hole". I think my team would be a StormNeto + Blade combo. They are my usual fallback when all else fails.

  • For me, my "go to" guys are X-Force lvl 161 5/5/3, Classic Magneto 151 3/5/5 and Kamala Khan 140 3/5/5

They usually get the job done.

Xforce/Goddess/Loki. Even after the nerfs, with a little luck they can still snowball a match in your favor pretty quickly.

If I need a desperation play however, I find that Winfinite (Panther/Mystique/MMags) does still work with a Blue/Purple boost, a nice board and a little luck.

Recently, as in some of the high leveled Hulk PVE nodes from this week, I've had decent success with OBW, AWolv, and Blade. I credit a lot of this team's success to AWolv being boosted, but I have won some fights with that team that previously wiped teams of Xforce, DD, and LThor/Cage/Fury/Colossus. A good board helps a lot, OBW just can't handle the headbutts on turn 3. Spamming the **** out of the board with strikes from AWolv and Blade really makes OBW's matches hit hard. Beating the enemy to the blue keeps them alive. Of course, a Godlike-Headbutt combo is something that will kick the **** out of them, but that is true of a lot of teams.

Getting OBW and AWolv back together is nice and a bit nostalgic for me, they were the 2 key members of my climb team back in the day. It takes me back to a simpler time, when true healing wasn't a thing and environment tiles were existent and plentiful.

I've been enjoying R&G/KK paired with Blade or sometimes Cage. Goons however get BladeStormNeto. Ninja goons get Cage instead of Blade.
And the seed teams in PVP get loaner/QS/Beast icon_e_biggrin.gif

This is such a roster-dependent question that it is very difficult to answer.

Before my 3* roster was really up an running, I use to use ares + obw + patch (a 1/1/5 patch was the first 3* I got above level 90 and was a staple of my transition, even though he was vaulted and stuck at that level for months).

Once I had some 3*s covered, my go to team for a bit was patch/lazy cap/X (X = obw for goons, ares or punisher for villlain nodes).

Then I got doom and loki up to a usable level (I got very lucky when their third powers were released as I managed to get some lucky token pulls and max those powers quickly.

So Patch 5/3/5 (153), doom 2/2/5 (114), and loki 2/2/5 (70) was a staple team for me for a long time. Even underleveled like that, they could fight way above their weight in pve. The strategy was to soak up as much damage as possible with patch, suppress the enemy's key colors (i.e. red for juggs, black for venom, etc). and then whenever doom's traps covered all the purple, or whenever I had enough black to use loki's trickery, I would drop berserker rage and clean up. It's a slow strategy, but it works very well in pve. And it's quite sustainable to boot, which helps save health packs.

Then I maxed out my luke cage and got more black covers for Loki. That allowed me to use patch/cage/loki, which is an awesome team for fighting level 250+ dark avengers.

Now that patch is a bit outclassed post health-shift, and there are weekly buffed 3*s, I tend to mix and match a bit more. If thor is buffed for a week, I may run him instead of patch. And then since I don't need loki's trickery, I might take hood instead.

For Goon nodes, I got patch/blade/obw (even now that I have a deep 3* bench). And for survival nodes I tend to use patch/lazy cap/obw. still haven't found a faster/safer way to burn down goons that berserker rage + espionage for offense and obw's blue for countdown tile defense.

But that sort of meandering story kind of highlights how personal this question is. patch/doom/loki was an awesome team for me because I happened to have 5 covers in doom's purple and loki's green, but didn't have lots of covers for loki's black. someone else with a 2/5/2 loki, or a 5/5/0 doom would have had much worse results trying to use that team.

This really only pertains to PvE. PvP is use the best available team, or die trying.

For PvE, in desperation I'll go to XForce-cMags-Loki, usually. Though I'm partial to Cyclops-Kamala-LCap and LThor-Grocket-Blade these days.

Goon team - Falcon, Blade, Daken

Troll Shield Simulator Team - She Hulk, Cage, Loki (Rainbow coverage, cage protect, exclusive AP drain on green to make a match long and makes them alter the way they play with Loki). I think people underestimate this team. I'm getting more attacks but am also shooting about 40% on defensive wins. icon_e_smile.gif

    Waves - DP, XF, CMags

I have to say, I didn't think that Blade would have been mentioned this much. He is a good character though. I don't see many XForce pairings anymore which doesn't really surprise me. I do see that IF is one of the most used by the comments. I'm always looking for good team combinations so I do a lot of pairing in low level fights, but it doesn't really help to test them. This game seriously needs a no risk/no reward simulator mode.

    Currently (until I get more covers & max levelled them) is Lvl270 icon_wolverine.png / Lvl166 icon_captainamerica.png / Lvl166 icon_hood.png or icon_falcon.png

Imagine my frustration in The Simulator.
  • If all else fails:
Cage + Mystique + MNMags + 4AP boosts. Keep me alive long enough to get combos going.
I try not to use it because the battles are pretty long.

Blade is a solid #3 because active, damage dealing purples aren't super common (and two of the best are very expensive in switch and deadpool) and purple is often left fallow when you pick a couple of tanky-types to start a team (e.g. lazy thor, BP, R&G, Cage etc). So blade is very fast (and quickly scaling) damage that pairs well with most of the best tanks in the game. (though he can be a bit of a liability in pvp since the ai won't protect red tiles, or wait to cast purple until multiple strike tiles are out on the board).

    Patch 150 4/4/5
Loki 108 5/4/4 (waiting on another green)
    Hood 108 5/5/2

Best there is after a rage or two does serious damage. Finish it off with pistols and boom! If this had an active blue it would be the perfect team, low hp but loki's black mitigates any match damage.

Sometimes swap in thor for patch if I think wolvie may get one shotted. Rare the ai gets enough ap to get anything but dakens blue off though.

very situation dependent. absolute best team (pvp) is thor/loki/featured. for shield simulator I would throw in grocket, obw or hood with them (depending on the opponent), but my roster at the top is limited (166thor, 142loki, 120grocket, and 13 at 102-104), so its a given that thor/loki will be 2/3 of it.

goon only opponents its one team for the top nodes - steve/Cyclops/mnmags. if you can get it going without an early cd getting you, this team, even at 104/104/94 has taken down up to 320 goons no problem. no green user so I try and use up my ares TUs on those. cannot recommend this team enough on goon nodes. steve needs 5 red for it to work. 5 blue is great but 5 red is a requirement and not an option, otherwise you have to go with a diff strategy.
