Yet another health pack (and maybe shield) thread

I know it is boring but we should not stop talking about healthpack.png.

If my calculator works, you have access to 40 of them per day (not counting bonus packs from rewards). Yay, sounds cool, right? Well only if you manage to keep at least one of them on cooldown throughout those 24 hours which is not possible if you are one of those sleepy dudes like me.

I would prefer if my health packs would be refilled to 25 (the amount is just what first came to my mind) every day at the same time if I have less than 25 at that moment and do not refresh after 36 minutes.

That way everybody would have access to the same amount of free health packs no matter how many game sessions one uses. A little step to change the "play on schedule" philosophy into "play when you want".

I think I would like that. But that is maybe just me.

Sidenote:
The same thoughts could be applied to shield cooldowns as well. You would get the right to purchase all three types of shields twice per tournament (or something like that). Haven't included Shield Simulator into my consideration yet. Maybe I won't at all. That's why this is a sidenote.

I find this to be a good idea, but sadly it will never happen. If they pushed the Health Packs up to regen at 25, they would lose too much revenue from people who don't mind (or don't know better) paying for them.

I personally think that if the match is won, your characters left standing should auto-regen to 100% health. If a character was downed during a won match, then you should have to use a Health Pack to revive him/her or wait for health to regen on its own.
  • I've suggested and commented on what feels like 100+ versions of this conversation, and yes, something needs to change with regard to health packs.

A substantial increase in what a player can "hold," separate pools for regenerating and "earned" HPs... something, anything. What is essentially five health packs is simply not enough for anyone who has work, school, or any kind of life (not to mention sleeping) outside MPQ.

Considering the substantial loss of true healing, increases to enemy health, low health heroes that did not get health increases, the constant back-to-back events, and the current inability to stockpile more than FIVE HPs without penalty, the current single pool of 5 regenerating health packs is feeling increasingly unreasonable.

Of course, that doesn't even take into consideration my bewilderment at the fact that characters do not "insta-heal" outside of matches. Character is damaged = full after-match heal. Character is downed = either health pack or timer-based health recovery. I understand the devs are trying to make money, but there has to be some kind of balance.

Considering scaling and enemy health alone, it's not like the above suggestion would change much anyway, because I don't make it out of too many PvE matches these days without losing 1 or all of my heroes...

I know. Me too. But still we march on, trying to get a better system. I think this is one of the things (Health Packs) that the Devs just outright ignore. I won't say they ignore the Health System, as they have made major tweaks to it. But I don't think they were always implemented right. And I definitely don't think they are "working as intended", or they wouldn't still be trying different solutions.

    - They gave us "True Heal" - No HP increase was given. But they did slightly increase the rate in which our characters healed.
    - They increased Character Health, but that just made for longer, bloodier battles - No HP increase was given and they didn't speed up recovery time.

I can stomach financing a Roster Slot from time to time when there is a Character I really want. But I find it almost impossible to purchase Health Packs. (Although I have purchased a few in my time, but I have actually purchased more of them by accident trying to move too fast than I have on purpose. LOL)

I would totally support 2 different stock piles of Health Packs. One's that are regen's are in column A, and they are used first. One's that are earned are in the column B. And once you run out of regens and try to use a health pack, a pop-up says something like... "You are about to use a Stock Pile Health Pack... Continue?"
  • Not a bad suggestion, but I prefer my suggestion of "Throw out health packs all together". The system is just a freemium pay gate on play time, and those are pretty much never good.

i would like something added that you could BANK your healthpacks when you win them (from PVE or daily reward) and then be able to use them anytime you want. if i get a 3 pack from the daily and there is a PVP that day i mostly dont play PVE at all that day until the PVP is over so i can go into the PVP with 8 health packs instead of 5

For me the big problem with the "earned" health packs is that they tend to come at exactly the moment when I'm about to stop playing the game for eight hours. Oh, you just cleared out an early sub in PvE? You're probably ready to head off to work or bed, but here are some health packs to take with you!

So, yeah, I'm right on board with this idea of keeping them in separate stacks.

In theory it would be nice to be able to play whenever you want for as long as you want, but I suspect in practice it would make me very sad and confused.

Half the game for me is seeing how many matches I can go though with the same team without using a health pack, and how low I can bring a character into a match and still survive. I've made it through a match with the featured at below 1k health from start to end, or tossed them into the fray anyway knowing they would be downed so I can get in one more match and save a health pack.

For which matter, like true healing, if you can push longer in pvp/pve with a different health pack/insta-healing system, so can everyone else. I suspect it will be even more hellish to compete at the end of pve/pvp events.

You could always just buy more health packs. I mean, Demiurge already came up with a solution that they seem pretty happy with. Same deal as the whole roster slot situation. You don't honestly believe Demiurge will start giving those away for free, do you? Health Packs and Roster Slots are the lifeblood of MPQ.

I'm not saying it's a nice, or even good, solution but it's all we're going to get.

Thanks for all the feedback, peeps icon_e_smile.gif.

I want to clarify some things that I seem to not get to the point because English is not my primary language:

    - My primary intention is not to come up with something new. I want to keep the topic healthpack.png alive with a thread of my own. I know there are several other threads about it and I really appreciate most of them.
    - I know that it will not happen. I am just dreaming icon_cool.gif.
