So, I kind of like the health buffs

After having it implemented for a while, I do like that the health buffs allow for more variety in teams.

It is true that games take longer now, which is not great.

Since every match takes longer and is more likely to result in damage to your team, the progression reward breakpoints should probably be scaled down to help keep the reward ratio against time and risk more in line with where it's been in the past.

Also, I'm still never spending money on the game again after both ThorForceGate and the developers' handling of ThorForceGate backlash.

That's all. Short post, since I care less and less about this game every day at this point.

Cheers,

  • I am also caring less and less about this game. Every "tweak" the devs make seems to be detrimental to players and now almost every round is a grind/slog that has almost no enjoyment in it.

I play almost every day and have done since the games very early days. Im in a great alliance etc that have a 700 minimum which used to be ok but now I just don't have the will to keep it up. Probably going to leave alliance and just become a casual player when I have nothing else to do.

Such a shame really because at one point it was SUCH a great game.

    Agreed.

The health buff improved GAMEPLAY considerably while making more characters viable for at least one match. My issue was never with the impact on game play but the reward structure.

It takes far more time and resources to achieve the same goals. The end result is a less satisfying gaming session than what we had before despite the improved gameplay.

    I agree with babinro.

Demiurge was right to realize that
Characters at the low end of the health pool were paying too high a penalty and were never seeing use.

So the idea behind the health shift was a good one.

The problems it creates are mostly second-order effects. More health = longer matches which means the time needed to achieve any given goal just went up. The PvP goals should be adjusted down again to compensate for the overall lower scores. (case in point: my own alliances has jumped from a top 70-80 PvP alliance to a top 45-55 alliance despite having lower scores since the health shift. It seems like people just aren't scoring as many points anymore)

Additionally, the weekly boosts are another major change designed to increase team diversity, and implementing both changes at the same time makes it hard to evaluate the effects of either one.

    Edited for typos.

I think between the new Time Slices, multiple events, and increased health plus the rewards are for older characters that vets already have/don't want; players are simply taking a break this season. Matches are longer, new times don't work for everyone, there's no breaks inbetween PVE and the rewards aren't worth it.. my whole alliance disbanded this season. I personally haven't played anything but DDQ since Ultron. I'm sure many players who weren't ranking the Top 100/150 before are doing so now.

I'm glad you seem to like the changes, and thanks for posting your positive experience.

Unfortunately, these changes made the game too much of a time sink for me, more so then it already has been. It seems that the game finally made it past my line in the sand and i will need to get my marvel fix somewhere else.

keep posting your positive experiences, and i hope you place well in all your challenges

    Thanks for the positive words.

Hoping you can find your fix. Good luck with it!
-If it's just Marvel you're looking for, Marvel Heroes is a great game.
-If you want something mobile, I know Marvel has some other mobile options, but nothing puzzley, and I haven't played very many to let you know if they're any good.
-If it's the puzzley-ness that you like, Puzzle and Dragons is pretty decent, and Terra Battle is wonderful.
-All of the above that I've played seem to have more "rewarding" rewards systems

I'm wondering for your case whether it's the increased time per game session that has ruined it for you, or if it's that more time now needs to be spent to get the same rewards. If it's the latter option, then the developers could probably fix this by adjusting the rewards structure to account for the effects of all the additional health.

right now DOTA 2 is ramping up for the international, got my compendium to lvl104 for some sweet immortal items, plus the challenges are fun too.(FYI devs only 25% of compendium purchases goes to prize pool currently +8million,http://www.dota2.com/international/compendium all from a game that gives you all the heroes from the beginning, skill based, where money can't buy you an edge and the best balanced games i played.... yes they pocketed 24 million)
heroes of the storm is next on my list just got a beta key from my cousin
playing marvel heroes inbetween, just saved enough splinters to get winter soldier, bummed he his not in this game though.
