PVP Points

I've noticed something weird with PVP matches lately but I'm surprised no one else has said anything so maybe its just me. When I'm picking PVP matches I look at how many points the match is worth as I'm sure many of you guys do too. I've noticed lately that when I complete the match, the amount of points I get are not what was advertised before the match. Sometimes its more and sometimes its less. It's been averaging out so it hasn't been a huge deal but clearly something isn't working properly.

It's been this way since at least the beginning of this season. Anyone else notice this?

This is a result of the difference in points held by the person youre attacking when it is queued and when the fight wraps up. I think its gotten a little more dramatic given the current MM scheme but its always been there. If you skip the matches you see after 5-7 will be more accurate point values than the ones that have sat there.

An advice I heard after I first found out about this: "If you come across a X-Men queue, save it. It'll be worth a lot of points soon."
Course, this applies to any high ranking alliance member. If you're just queuing up random guys and plan to hit them hours later, the high hitting ones are definite keepers, even if they're not worth much to you now. icon_e_smile.gif

yes - the ones that sit there for a while - don't expect what it says. if they climbed higher, you'll get more or if they got beat down you'll get less. if I'm about to make a push and its been a while since I lined up my targets, I look at the rosters and try and guess if they might have climbed higher or gotten beat down. if you have a starting team (i.e. weaker) of a stronger roster, and they have much stronger characters, you might get a big chunk of points from them if they've climbed during that time. conversely if you have the 2 absolute best characters of a weaker roster queued (say with a loaner) and its been a while, depending on where you are points-wise, they may have gotten beaten down some and it will be less - sometimes a lot less.

    hope that helps.

You could think of the points in your suggested matchup as a snap shot in time. If you play the match right away, you'll get those points 99% of the time. However, if you sit on that match up and the target's score changes, then the point value you get when you win the match will be different. As some posters have pointed out, you can use that to your advantage if your target is someone will be add a lot of points soon. So it would be helpful to spend some time looking at the leaderboard and familiarize yourself with the names of the consistent top pvpers, because you'll get a match with them sooner or later. icon_cool.gif

With the MMR change this is entirely dependent on roster so if you are a 2*, or even transition, player....dont expect it. Based on what they say, it shouldnt happen until they are way up in points/leaderboard. And even if you did queue them at that point....they are probably running 290/240/240.
  • I've noticed this a lot, and no, it's not just when I'm waiting a long time to do a battle. Yesterday I picked a match that was worth 40 and I got less than 30 for it. Is it possible that this player changed rank enough to make that difference in the time I played the match? Probably... but that's stupid. Whatever the score is at the start of the match is what it should be when completed, always. Or better yet, whatever it is when I press the fight button, since there's no notification of point value anywhere else. I choose who to fight based on those point values.

I submitted a ticket that was accepted because I had similar problems in PVE. It would consistently give out 10% less than it was reporting.

The points at the start of the match ARE what they have at the end. That just differs from what you are seeing. The points you see are not what the person has, they are what they had when the fight was batched and sent to you. Also your queue is not just the three you see, there are some behind those as well. Points arent dynamic given the way its set up. And it would be REALLY hard to do, since it would require a live connection at all times youre playing. THAT would be stupid. The devs had to balance things, and in general, they did a decent job with this item.
