Vision with 1 cover - how is that gonna work?

Was just looking at the ranking rewards for TaT, and 50-150 get a red cover.

Thing is, the red cover appears to be dependent on his blue and yellow, and all three are active powers. If you don't have blue or yellow to change his density, how does the red even work?

Anybody been lucky enough to pull a red Vision cover who can chime in on that?

He's got 3 modes for red, neutral, yellow tile out, and blue tile out, so you'll just always get the neutral mode.

Edit: I just checked the Steam version and the red only shows two modes, but it seems like the mobile version you can see all 3 modes including the neutral one. At least, people have listed stats/names for all 3 of his possible red attacks.

Yeah, I was playing on Steam, and saw the red cover there.

    Confusing as heck.

As I see it, Vision = 1/2 of Cyclops. icon_twisted.gif

Be happy you didn't get the other two colors as the lowest reward. He'd literally be a waste of space in a roster at that point. Wouldn't contribute anything at all.

I didn't get a Vision (alas). I was just looking at the t150 rewards for TaT in debating how hard I should push to try to finish 101-150.

I mean, I'd take a Vision cover of any color if I managed to pull one, but I don't currently have him.

Check the character forums, I did a write up there. Red is a single target nuke which does like 2700 at 5 covers / 166 and makes a 5 tiles + pattern (like a 1 covers Xforce green except its + intead of x). Red transforms into an aoe if blue CD tile is out (2900 with 5 blue and red covers) and if yellow is out its like DD's purple removing 2 strike or protect tiles (not attack though) doing about 1800 damage per.

    (He's pretty damn bad)

From your explanation, he doesn't sound that bad, and would only be useful if he had 13 covers with all 3 powers. Maybe he'd be pretty damn bad if you finished this event without getting a red cover (somehow).

Oh, hey, I finished top 100 in the event and got a Vision cover after all, despite the tokens throwing 2* at me.

Well, I guess I'll get to see how this works first-hand.

Some options for what Vision could do if you didn't get a red cover:
    Useful as a 'special tile'
    Distract a Moonstone Gravity Warp
Blue is a cheap 'special' to get the kicker on Beast's green and yellow

    Useful as a 'countdown'
Activate the kicker on the Kingpin's black.
Force an enemy OBW to burst heal at the lower level since there is a countdown to fiddle with

    Direct benefits
Blue is like a strike tile that only works for Vision --
Yellow is like a protect tile that only works for Vision --
(good luck getting a 1-cover 3* to tank any colors for you though.. even buffed)

Tongue very much in cheek - if you aren't getting a Red cover from TaT the 'top progression' blue from the Heroic isn't going to do you any good.

I'm trying to reserve judgement till I see what Vision can do with covers, but its difficult.

There's a loaner for use in the main event hub of Heroic Whatever.

Oh my hell I'm in love with the red/blue combo. I really hope I'm going to be able to reach the progression reward even though I don't have Invisible Woman.

Beast's blue costs 1 AP more and is infinitely more useful.

I've played with him a lot and he's really really bad. Granted its a different color but his red/blue combo is so much worse than a no-combo-required Kamala Khan that its not funny. At least for me, since the Xforce nerf I've found good greens harder to come by than reds (DP Torch Cyclops CapAm you name it). I've formed teams around him to maximize his tanking (Elektra + Patch or Blade + Fist are like the only ones) and going to all those lengths his red isn't impressive - it really needs to around 4k damage.

u think D3 factors in how well your 1 cover new character works in events?

Your outlook is so positive. You are a ray of sunshine in a legion of stormclouds.

Using the loaner in the join forces sub, that blue is menacing.. a simple match with that active is doing almost 1k damage, imaging if you had strike tiles out, does it double dip like OBW?

Took me a second to get that. I had blocked out the fact that Scarlet Witch and Vision have that weird love affair... icon_eek.gif

    Ok first, eww.

Second, I think Vision is worse than Quicksilver right now. At least Quicksilver has some niche funcionality as a partner to PX and IF. Vision is just all around very very bad. If the Density things were placeable and not CDs that would be one thing, or if they were at least like 8 turns instead of 4. As it stands you are basically looking to get 5 blue and 20 red and then just open up on the enemy team, but for that much AP you can almost certainly just kill a guy using other powers. And killing 1 guy is usually better than doing mass team damage that leaves them alive.
  • I feel people are really sleeping on his blue as a standalone ability.

At 5 AP it is a very cheap and ridiculously strong pseudo-strike tile. If you can make 4 matches with Vision while this tile is out, we're looking at 3000 extra damage, possibly even more if you can get some cascades. I'll admit that you probably won't get 4 or more matches most of the time, but if he tanks his colors and the TU tiles, 3 matches should be common. 5 AP for 2000 damage is good value for a cheap skill; just ask Gamora what her red does...

it's hard to get excited about a '1 ability' hero, even if that ability is WTFBBQ amazing
  • The blue is better than it looks but unless your name is Professor X, strategy that involves getting everyone else on the team killed first so that you can unleash doom just doesn't work that well.
