My problem with "pay to skip": retaliations

In PvP events, I'm very reluctant to fight anyone with fewer points than me. If I beat them, I'll get less than 25 points, and if they then retaliate and beat me, they'll probably take away more than 25 points. And many of my wins come from opponents using higher leveled copies of the exact same characters that I use, so beating me should be easy. Fighting and winning against people with a lower score is most likely going to be a net loss of points, so the only reasonable choice is to skip them. I often have to do a lot of skipping to find an opponent with more points than me. If I have to pay to skip matches that are effectively worth negative points, then I'm going to have some real trouble competing.

Maybe they should make skips against opponents that are lower in rank be free? Only charge the fee to skip opponents that are higher in rank?
