ISO & HP Burning Holes in My Pockets

Hi everyone,
after several months of casual playing I realize I'm ready to get serious and should get some advice.
I finally have several playable 3* heroes, and saved up 150k ISO and 5k HP.
(I don't use $$ if that affects anyone's advice.)
(Also, I know I should wait a week for levels to get cheaper.)

On the one hand I am eager to start developing more characters so I can play with more combinations.
On the other hand, with recent changes I don't understand the overall effects of raising levels.
Is it all about having a few go-to characters while keeping the average low, or several at some "useful" level?
Should I invest in several level 40 characters to 90 or 100, or to 120 or 130, or push one character to max level first?

Which combinations should I be trying for PvP? PvE?
I am having trouble staying in the top 100 of either, so I must be doing something wrong.

What about all this HP? With a couple of one-star and two-star characters I can toss without much regret,
does it make sense to splurge on a 10-pack of some kind. Which kind?
(The odds are pretty discouraging.)
Or I could buy just the right cover for some character who would benefit tremendously. Hood, maybe?

Is this too many question marks for one topic? Will I hit some limit and trigger automatic censoring?

    Given the covers you have, Cage and LCap is where your ISO should go.

    And I don't know how many more times it needs to be said, but never, ever, ever buy tokens. If you need to, just outright buy the covers you need. You biggest need is Hood blue, but I don't know if buying 3 covers is a great idea. You're probably just better off using the HP to place well in events.

    right behind cage and cap, I'd make loki a priority too. he would pair very well with patch and I use him with thor all the time - those 2 are my 'high' characters with all the others ~100. I use them in pvp to place well, but don't generally use thor in pve (ultron event doesn't count) due to possible issues with scaling.

    1 - unless all your premier high-end ***s are leveled, don't put any iso into any mid or lower tier unless they are going to serve a specific purpose for you.
    2 - always keep the long-terms goals in mind. I try to resist leveling someone just for an event. what use is leveling mystique or psylocke for a pvp or pve essentials when you have cage/cap/Cyclops/loki/doom/torch/etc. that could be at a higher level.
    3 - getting a team to 166 is good for pvp but if you regularly finish t100 and are happy where you are there, it may be more important to broaden your roster for pve purposes than maxing out a couple guys. that said, I have 2 characters above level 104 - 166thor and 140loki that I use to place in pvp. they are getting me pvp covers where I wasn't getting them before, so that was my use for doing that (I also spent some money on some covers there to speed up my transition a bit).

    Level Loki, just for the hit points? I figured his powers work just as well as is.
    I'll start playing around we him at 40, and put the ISO in if I want to use him seriously in PvP.

    loki is rellay great once he hits 5 green though right'? is he worth investing in wiht just two green covers?

    TLCstormz: The Ultron rewards included a 2,900 HP "jackpot."
    (Just a 0.5% chance per token if I remember right.)
    I got lucky, so I came looking for advice on how to appreciate it properly. icon_e_smile.gif
