A question for those who bought the hero packs with HP

Was it worth it? The covers that you got, mostly good or mostly lousy ones? Am thinking of trying my luck in getting the X-Force Wolverine, but not sure if it's worth spending 3800 HP. icon_e_sad.gif

Well, it depends. It is a matter of getting lucky. If X-Force Wolverine the only thing that you can use, definately not worth it. If you can use most the covers, I'd say worth pulling the level and seeing what gets spit out.

I can use most other covers except Bagman. >.<

Only worth it if you like Bagman and Hawkeye...like...a lot.

I spent $50 and used a good chunk to buy mylar bag space. The covers I got were mostly garbage. Do yourself a favor and don't spend any money on this game. Sure, you won't win any tourneys, but when they finally do something to make you leave, you can walk away with less anger/regret.

I used to play another mmorpg and guess what is the minimum the top players spent... To level and get good equipments... Each of the top 10 players easily spend over USD 3000, with some spending USD 800 a month
  • I've busted maybe 50 or 60 heroic packs and have gotten 1 green IW cover out of it. It was well worth buying them when I first started out as it helped me get a 2* team together to compete.

Like others have said, if you only need a 4* cover, it's not worth it. I think the stats-folks have shown that you have around a 2.5% chance of pulling a 4* cover from a standard heroic pack.
  • If you are a paying player, a US dollar a day for a 2 star pack isn't so bad, especially when you are starting out.

If you are not a paying player, hold back on your Hero Points.

And once your 2 star roster starts to fill out, it will not be a good idea to buy more Heroics, regardless of price. By then, if you need 3 stars, just pay 1250 for the cover if you're desperate. And if you need that 2 star cover, might want to try a few Recruit Standard tokens to see if you are lucky first, before you spend that 500 for that specific cover.
  • Found the link to the probabilities data collection spreadsheet (couldn't remember who had it linked). There's a tab for heroic token which lists the probability of pulling a 4* at 2.12% IW was introduced after Wolvie which is why there is a discrepancy b/w the likelihood of getting each 4* - I suspect you have the same chance at getting either character.

Wow, is it really 16% for a 3 star? Seems like I never get one of those from a Heroic, lol.

The Triple Edged 10-Pack includes a guaranteed Wolverine Patch or Wolverine X-Force. So tempting! What are the odds of 1 Patch/X-Force and the remaining 9 are Bagman?
  • There was a thread with results of opening 10-packs.

IMO common wisdom is still to not spend HP on anything but slots and maybe shields. Build up your team from play. Unless certainly you like burning money. Even then I'd suggest it burning in something more promising.
  • I bought a 10-pack during the most recent bugged event, right before they broke everything. Really wish I hadn't. I got one 4* wolvie cover and one 3* BW, but I really wanted Patch and Blue Spidey got none of those. The rest were all 2* wolvie and Bag man. Woo.
  • Still pretty lucky to get the 4* though. Just not worth the price for 10 packs imho.

It's a complete rip-off. You're much better spending HP on covers of characters you know you will use and who's abilities are useful.

I've spent my HP on covers of Grey Widow's Green, Spidey's Blue, and Hulk's Black over the past month or so. No regrets. Even if those powers get nerfed.

If you do 'get lucky' and get an X-force cover .. what is the use? You can't feasibly use him in your roster and you might have to spend even more HP to make room for him.
  • From the spreadsheet listed above, the sample size is more than sufficient to predict within statistical tolerance the probability of standard and heroic packs.

For both packs, the odds are:

    Common Pull : 30 in 36 (think: Rolling a standard 6-sided die, a 1-5 results in a common pull) [83.3%]
    Uncommon Pull: 5 in 36 (think: Rolling a standard 6-sided die, rolling a 6) [13.9%]
Rare Pull: 1 in 36 (think: Rolling a standard 6-sided die, rolling a 6 and then rolling a 6 again a second time. Rolling a 1-5 on the second dice roll results in a uncommon pull) [2.8%]

For Standard Packs: From Common to Rare -> 1*, 2*, 3*
For Heroic Packs: From Common to Rare -> 2*, 3*, 4*

I don't think there is enough data on 10-packs to write a concrete answer on those, but the data seems to imply that after the guaranteed pull, the standard probabilities apply for the heroic packs. So, I don't think anyone can really say what the odds are on the 3* vs. 4* guaranteed Wolv is, but the other 9 pulls thereafter are not in your favor. But then again, as has been mentioned in the boards here, someone occasionally does beat the odds on a 10-pack.

The question thus is.... "Do you feel lucky enough to gamble knowing these odds?"

I have him at 3/1/0 and haven't spent a single ISO on him. I can't really figure out why he's 4* because he's not that good... Or maybe he is when you get him past L200? I don't know, but I certainly can't afford the ISO to level him up to a useful point while my team is still reeling from the most recent nerfs.
  • Yeah, that 1:6 ratio for every * is good to memorize.

Btw explains a lot -- in other games it's more like 1:3.

Update is coming very soon. On IW the change was quite dramatic, so you may just love it.

If it's anything like their most recent updates, they'll remove red all together so I'll have 0/1/0 and then give me 100HP to make up for it.
