New Phone, account sync issues - "Back up to Facebook"?

Hey, my new phone got associated with Google+ and I can't seem to deassociate it. My old data is associated with my Facebook account. There's a backup TO Facebook option, but not a backup FROM Facebook option.

I'm getting mixed messages - some things I found say that if I hit "Backup to Facebook" I destroy my old data, others are saying if you do this, you get the option to instead restore FROM Facebook.

Could I get some official word on this?

I sent in a support ticket yesterday but no response yet and I want to get in on the Ultron event to not screw my alliance.
