Suggestion for upcoming skip tax. REMOVE HEALTH PACKS

I was a bit vocal over the increase in boost prices and with the addition of skip tax we will burn through ISO if we want to win quickly and unscathed.... However, to fix this and to make more people actually attempt hard battles, one idea I would like the dev's to see would be to either have our characters heal after each match or drastically decrease the time for health packs. By healing after a battle, you can keep the high prices of the boosts (which will discourage spamming them), it'll have more people attempt battles they are worried of fighting right now, and people should fall into their appropriate ladder areas because they'll attempt hard battles but won't always win them by spamming the boosts.

My biggest issue with the current state of the game is with the increase in boost prices my team is wreaked after EACH battle and after 2-3 matches I'm out of healing or out of ISO due to boosts. I now have to sit around waiting for natural healing which means I can't play a game however I want to play it. I don't mind supporting the devs with some $ but I disagree with pay to win type games. The recent update created this atmosphere. Stop requiring healing and allow us to play as much as we want without the fear.

With 3-4 tournaments going on, I can't even have enough healthy teams to enter all of them.

(Plus it'll get arid of grinding poor Venom with spiderman to heal our characters.)

  • That's actually not a bad idea. I'd modify it a bit though. I'd say make us auto-heal on PvP matches only and only back to the level where we started. Keep health packs and non-healing around for PvE.

I agree that it's important to have people not be afraid of difficult fights. You'll get a much better MMR.

Exactly. The biggest problem with MMR right now is we only fight teams we KNOW we can win because loosing has too many penalties.

Also, I'd love the +3 all color to have an ISO option too for the really tough PVE matches. (Maybe have an HP version and an ISO +500 one).

    Great idea

    I like it.
  • Erm, having your team get beat up each round was the point. Taking damage + timed healing + timed events creates urgency to keep playing, which means buying healthpacks to continue. This is how freemium works, by creating incentives to purchase stuff to keep playing. It is also how freemium fails, by requiring purchases to continue playing at all.
  • There's supposed to be a reason to know how to avoid taking excessive damage and which matchups are favorable, and when you can sub in guys to get through.

Last Lightning Round I had Hulk/Patch subbed and they obliterated two of the toughest team I ran across and Hulk died horribly too (Berserker Rage, Hulk tanks, Anger blows opposing team up). That isn't my standard team, but it's the guys I bring out when I need a win in a hurry, or when the enemy are too resilent for my standard team to wear down (would take too long and probably net negative points in LR). My suicide team can pretty much knock out any team as soon as it hits 9g, and no I'm not going to do that every fight because Hulk needs a health pack after every such win. But there are definitely times well it's worth it.
  • I'd love to make the game easier for myself, but health packs and the health lockouts serve an important purpose.

Neuter them and there is absolutely no consequence to taking damage which makes the whole game 'he who grinds wins'.

First of all, the game is already like that. If you don't think so, you're deluded.

Second, if you only take it out of PvP, it gives people incentives to take on questionable fights. MMR can't possibly work if you only ever win -- which is why "tanking" is a thing in this game. You have to go lose on purpose because nobody is losing accidentally.

It is staggering how out of touch you endgame players really are.
  • There are many different ways to improve the current situation. The current health pack system is not suitable to the current meta, simple as that. We already lose lots of points and time on losses, as we get a single try, and while it is much fairer than before, but punishing us into a pay to play situations after a couple of wipes is on a level between a fraud and raw sadism IMHO. And of course this encourages skipping, except that soon you get punished for that as well, in a really iso starved game with insulting purchase rates to top that off. A sensible fix would be, either:
Remove health packs altogether and full heal between matches ( shields can drain our funds just fine as now)
Increase health packs generation cap to 10 (suboptimal but more acceptable)
Make health regen faster than the current i.e. half a day for Hulk (meh but better than nothing)
Some combination of the two above
