To reward paying customers

Something to encourage paying customers is to give them ways to buy 4 star characters directly. This could be done through all tiers but the 4 star category is where you can reward the paying customer, most other tiers are likely free to play players, perhaps not 3's but it's such a dilluted teir, the direct pay option would more be for personal favorites. Any thoughts?

If you pay for anything in the game you alredy have a reward; think of buying HP or ISO as a donation to keep the game going (even if this is not true) and you receive your HP/ISO as a reward. You will have an advantage over a player that plays exactly like you but havent paid a dyme.

I'm not suggesting ways to get an advantage but proposing a way to allow paying customers to get certain high value items. Most free players wouldn't consider buying a four star cover, with the current system or this one. They just have no need to spend any money on it.

If a free player doesnt pays for a 4* cover, then they have one less cover on that character. This is particularly an advantage by itself, having that extra cover, specially because the powers of 4* scale higher than the 3*s powers. Just look at X-F 5th black, it enables to get him to max level (if you have the other 8 covers) and gives a huge damage, after the 'nerf' he can OHKO even more people.

Having said extra cover will potentially push you farther than you used to be, granting more rewards.

I see what your saying here, the player under the current system would benefit by adding that cover. What I'm suggesting is giving us more options to buy covers. So basically adding onto what you're already saying. A free player or any player is limited with what covers they can buy because you first need that color. So this suggestion adds being able to buy colors you don't have yet, that's what I'm getting at. Hopefully that explains it better.

Dude, there's a post at the top of this page about asking the community to be more healthy in conversations and critiques of the game. What do you think this forum would look like if you could actually just buy four star covers? As is, the game has lots of P2W elements, but at least we all have to either play through the game long enough to be blessed by RNGesus (or spend enough on HP to buy enough tries).

There's a few things the game could use, but a straight up pay to win option is not one of them.


Unless the cost is something absurd. You wanna make it like 20,000 HP? Go right ahead D3...that's just allowing the people who would buy the tokens the chance to [potentially] spend more just to save themselves some time.

Technically it already is, so the way I'd see if something like this actually happened would be even more so rewarding the paying customer. Since four star covers aren't in the Deadpool mode, it's still the same route to get four star covers as before. Lets say you have a nagging cover to get, do you really want to try cover packs, or wait for some event to come around, then take your chances there still? Best case scenario, you just need one cover to buy, and you can do the same ol procedure like right now, buy iso and buy more of that cover. Or if you're a free player you just play to earn those rewards. It's actually hardly any different, and with more fours coming out, this really makes sense since they are gonna be spread out in all the events, and so far no Deadpool mode for any four star covers.

Also I know the thread you're talking about, but your just taking this too far. As I said, the best case scenario, you have two of the 3 colors, why not have the option to buy the 3rd?

Whales already buy token packs to get colors they don't have, I know because I saw fully maxed Kingpin before that event ended. That means he had to buy enough packs to get one of every color and then upgrade them. So I don't think they'll set it up to buy directly when that's going on.
They also get money from people buying hp for shields trying to get to the 1000 point progression reward. Doesn't seem like a win for them.

Once again, introducing a mechanic that is pay to win is terrible. Restate all you want that you think people should be able to buy a cover for a four star, but it's still going to set a terrible precedent and be fairly toxic for the community. Additionally, you haven't given any reason why it should happen, other than it would be easier; which isn't a very good justification for anything.

Using the fact that there is no 4 star mechanic like there is for three stars with DDQ is irrelevant, given there also isn't one for the one or two star characters either. It exists because the transition from 2 to 3 was and is so **** brutal that players needed some help, but not so much with the 3-4 star progression.

Just because D3 can introduce a way for you to pay your way to easier covers doesn't mean they should do so. I know you'll respond again about how you think they should and rehash the same things, but think about it for a moment first- are you actually asking for anything besides for the game to get easier? And if your goal is to make the game easier, can you at least give us a reason why besides you want some convenience?

Gotta agree with others here. HP/Iso is your reward for supporting the game. You can already use that reward to hunt for 4* covers in cover packs or buy additional covers. It's just extremely expensive. So much so, that newer 4* characters are effectively exclusive to paying customers as is. You could even argue that they are exclusive to only the largest whales (bigger than me, anyway).

What you are really asking is for 4* characters to be cheaper.

I'd rather get a usefull characters instead of a 4* if I may.

But if 4* were more rewarded in a more simple structure (not easier but not impossible) surely that ppl that would pay for it would do it more often and that would be more money to them anyway right?
Aside normal whales, if an normal player could get 1 of each without sacrificing life outside, surely more ppl would invest on it, its a move should try someday

It would be interesting to get a "surprise grab bag" type of thing with purchase.. or a spin the wheel.. roster slot, 3* or 4* cover, bonus HP or ISO... bigger package you buy, more spins you get.

I think the reason that does not happen is because players would be tempted to skip 3* characters completely and then run out of "better" rewards to strive for. That would mean faster turn over and perhaps even fewer cover sales over the long run.

We used to have many posts on the Forum about "lack of motivation" by players that were consuming the 3* content faster than the Devs could release it. By making 4* characters extremely difficult to obtain, they keep even the most hard-core players busy. That's the point of 4* characters AFAIK.

Unfortunately, the rest of us can't help but wonder what the point of these 4* characters are, since we feel locked out. Personally, I might begin selling some 4* characters to regain Roster slots, because I find the 3* content more than enough to keep me busy.

I dont think making Elektra, Star Lord or even Kingping more easily colour covered makes a shift in power exactly
Even less with everyone knowing that any 4* beyond the line will be nerfed soon
I just ask as someone that wants to progress, so why they keep releasing 4* one after the other if they really dont care about we completing them? They are like half playable during the next pve and never to seen again

My 5/5/2 X-Force is still better than most of my 3* characters. I use him, but I don't abuse him. There is still incentive to get 4*s if you have few 3* characters left to collect. But there's also less incentive to completely skip over the 3* game than there used to be.

This is like the ultimate MPQ first world problem. "I can't get the one color I need so I can buy all the rest fast enough and I shouldn't have to wait for it to be available again like every other player!"

Just wait for Kingpin or whoever it is to be up for grabs again like everyone else. If you can afford to buy 4 star covers you can surely afford to easily win the one you need next time it comes up. No one likes to not have every cover they want, but that's the game.

LOL @ your first sentence.. my 4* roster is so slight, i have leveled none of them, 4Thor has 2 blue and 1 yellow, Nick has 2 purple, Starlord 1 purple, Xforce 1 black, then out of nowhwere elektra is now 1/2/1 thanks to sim tokens and a lucky heroic token. Elektra was 1/0/1 3 days ago.

I can wait, they will come! I just hate the waiting part is all.

Edit, forgot 1 purple for Prof X. Simulator tokens so far have netted me 4 4*'s 2Thor and 2 Elektra.
