it seems with all the negativity lately, this whole Ultron PVE is finally causing some nice fun speculative conversations. New gameplay mechanics, Alliance based non-competitive PVE

I think it is nice to see a day of fun threads and not just angry players..

Did they accidentally do something right?????

    I wouldn't call it excitement.

More like, we are bees and someone just kicked the hive.
  • Whilst I'm all for new content, a pve where only active alliances can get new character rewards (which in turn will be an essential for the hulkbuster pve) sets a dangerous precedent. I'll reserve judgement until I see what kind of progression targets the Ultron pve sets for its rewards as this could mean a lot of people who play a lot, but not in an active alliance are effectively screwed out of a new character release in its initial pve and subsequent hulkbuster pve.

I suspect part of the goal there might be to get people in semi-active alliances to shake the tree and get their inactive members to come back and play.

I'm curious to see how this Alliance-based event is going to work out. I know that the Alliance I'm in is VERY casual, so hoping that the Ultron hitpoints we have to whittle down will be scaled accordingly. I'm wondering how they are doing that, actually. Do they tally up all Alliance member rosters, levels, etc. and base his hitpoints from there? Is it that granular or far more of an "average"?

I must be getting used to all the rage on the forum - I keep reading the title of this thread as "finally some excrement".

I'm really looking forward to new content and mechanics... hopefully it doesn't penalize lazy or retirement alliances too badly.

My alliance is 100% casual; me, my brother, my sister, and two mates. Puh-retty sure we've got no hope of doing well in this icon_lol.gif

Still, new content. I am excite.

You know when the last time people were excited like this was? The Taco thing. Know why? Because it was new and non-competitive. Seems like people actually like not having to fight tooth-and-nail against everyone for everything all the time. Who **** knew?!

And even the semi-retired and disgruntled come in and do their DPD.. this is why i think this event is going to change the game quite a bit. New PVE types, cannot wait to see how it scales. My Alliance has some people with max level 40 chars (new guys getting their first 3 star from a token lol) and a couple in the 166 range. When i got my daily reward, 18 players had played recently, so it is an active alliance, just oddball is all.

I'm hoping it's Gauntlet style. Take off 10,000 health for 500ISO. Take off 20,000 for a token. Take off 30,000 for a 2* character.

That kinda thing. Maybe scatter Scarlet Witch amongst the rewards so that by the time Ultron is defeated you have one of each cover. That way even casual alliances might be able to get *one* cover from doing, say, 1/3 health in damage.

Sounds really great. I'm looking forward to this one. I hope it's not a one time thing either. Hopefully this event will be run more often for new characters. icon_e_biggrin.gif

But for some reason, (maybe it's just that I'm paranoid), I can't help thinking back to the first run of DP vs MPQ when their servers crashed due to too many players on at once. icon_e_confused.gif And, of course, the devs are out of the office this week for C2E2. icon_e_surprised.gif
  • I'd like to know when they are going to actually do the compensation they have been promising for the last week. At this point I'm not sure that customer service is even there. I haven't heard from or seen any movement on the topic in 7 days, so much for their usual 72 hour response time. can't even get a status update.. but hey so glad they could patch for new content.
  • I dont know if excitement is the word, waiting for it surely and i think its good but i think the excitement is related to the awards, and so far we dont know enough to be excited about it

You look at a PvP and say "arghh top 5 for Bagman" and it all goes down, so is always about how reachable and usable the rewards are for you
In PvE i always look for a good progression reward per example, didnt played last (well current) due to that

I think ppl gets more excited when they change reward structure or when a 4* pve turns to 100 for alliance
The rest is just the same, a pve in which i'll be in the usual rank i'm always are

But at least a new pve will be fun, hope the rewards for fighting Ultron are worth it too
  • This event combines several things that forumites have been asking for for as long as the questions have been relevant:
*boss fight with communal activity required to win
    *alliance-based cooperative play
    *non-competitive reward structure

If they've done even a halfway decent job executing, this will be a real home run.

    So, yeah. I'm pretty pumped.

Just wish i had a way to find out who is active/inactive/last time they played in my alliance. Would love to have a full alliance for this.
