A bunch of concerns re: MMR and Tournaments, Hackers

Well as it sits, it's currently difficult to kill most of the teams I have to face in the wolverine tourney. Granted I'm not using buffs. I have relatively mixed feelings about this. I'm fine with having a tough time winning each match and I think that should be part of the game. My issues are the lack of points I get for winning those matches. I only have 200 or so points and have 1 person in my MMR with more points than me (It's thewrek and I don't feel like playing an alleged hacker). Granted many people have complained about matchmaking, so this is my drop in the bucket.

I'd be fine with paying to skip a tough opponent I didn't want to fight because it would be too hard, but I don't want to have to pay to skip opponents that have decent teaMs but are worth less than 20 points. I think the MMR system needs to be adjusted so that opponents are worth at least 20 points and once that is the case, then pay to skip can be introduced.

Back to my topic, currently the top contenders in my bracket have largely low level rosters. I can make 2 possible inferrences from this info. 1 they are in a low MMR and able to compete with one another, while I am in a different MMR and can only compete with people with low amounts of points, but strong teams. Or 2 they are mostly hackers. I find both of these things concerning. It doesn't really make sense that people with lower MMR's gain this kind of advantage.

There are several possible solutions, though I imagine they would all require a large overhaul of the pvp system.
1 brackets decided on by MMR
2 brackets decided on by avg team lvl (would have to look at the avg lvl of your avg team, not the first team you use to enter a tourney)
3 separate tournaments for players who use higher lvls (similar in idea to elite tourney but I'm not touching that until the hacking stops)

Finally I would appreciate some comment from devs regarding the alleged PC hackers. Are they aware of this, is there data to suggest this is going on, what is being done in response to these allegations?

  • I think it's a combination of too many events at one time, too many people that have quit playing or are laying back and a more punishing type of gameplay (that's causing more damage to be taken on and more health packs used). All that results in a much smaller pool of points.

  • You're right in all points, but not that it's pretty early (?) in the tournament. As more more matches are accumulated the picture should change by itself and remove the anomalies. (Whether it woll or not a different question. ) I suggest to be patient and look around when top is over 500 pts (or little over where the HP progression currently is).
