Going to have to agree here. The previous Quicksilver cover looked so classy, this one just looks like a goofy 70's style cover. Same goes for 3* Daken's previous cover: from classy to cheesy.

while I agree it's not the "coolest" looking zangy sci-fi modern action thing out there, It's actually by a little artist called John Buscema, who you may or may not have heard of, but who's actually pretty significant and has done some of marvel's best art and covers.

Marvel is quarky. I personally prefer seeing something by an actual important artist and something that is fun, and is from "gasp" the silver age, and Stan Lee actually had something to do with. You won't find many collecters with the civil war iss, although I agree it looks slick.

I guess another sign that my time with MPQ is coming to an end and a generation gap coming in to play. I like fun and different covers by classic artists. Imagine a Mcfarlane or Romata or Ditko spiderman? Or a clockrum or adam, or byrne x-men? How about a kirby anything (besides devil dino), How about a miller daredevil (since the cover used is a miller rip off anyway)?

Nah, who cares about the art of comis and their history, best just to make all covers a modern picture of them standing still, or doing something dull and cliche.

Big fan of the new daken covers!

They both stand out nicely in the game selection screen against other cover types. Always nice to have that as opposed to Cyclops and DD which look FAR too similar.

Not a fan of the other two mostly cause Ares isn't in center frame and there's just too much happening in the other to make for a good cover (especially scaled down in game).

Personally I prefer a cover with a little action, or context or good or relevant art to just a picture of them standing there and nothing else. Love a classic avengers cover with QS. Too many covers are just modern still close ups. Typicaly in the comic world these issues aren't even interesting or desirable covers. to me there's be more of a point on having actual valid or cool or classic issues. but to each thier own

I have this issue, so i may be a bit biased.

Lol...fair and valid. I've considering grabbing an iss becuase it was featured. Actually was going to buy teh wolverine #8 again that I had as a kid, was looking at it before I started MPQ just becuase I love the cover.

Agreed. I hope if The Surfer ever makes it to the roster they use the classic Silver Surfer #1 Lee and Buscema cover. One of the single most iconic covers ever.

I'd personally vote for SS 3 or SS4, but SS 1 would be up there too. I'm a little baised I guess since 4 is my prize comic, and it might not work since there's thor on it too. All great covers in that series for the most part.

SS4 with the Thor battle has to be one of the single greatest covers in Marvel History.

SS3 and SS4 are both amazing but I can't imagine #3 would have a chance in Hell with Mephisto on the cover. I just got the second Silver Surfer Masterworks TP and his When calls Galactus Epic collection from Tales of Wonder the other day. Great old books.

I think it's valid to put it up there for sure. I got mine signed by stan lee and CGCed and although I love it and the cover is mint, overall teh book had issues and my heart slightly sank when it came back as a 5.5

But for my income bracket, I have it up on a shelf as the treasure of my collection.

Hell, I wouldn't trade all the 90's comics in all the attics in the world for that book. I'd go on my top shelf too. icon_e_biggrin.gif The first book I ever bought with my own money was Spider-Man vs Wolverine and I still have it in a manilla envelope somewhere, most of the pages are loose. Bought it in a Dahl's grocery store in Des Moines, Iowa and that store isn't even standing anymore. You can't put a value on the sentiment.
