Figured it might be time to start some speculation about who might enter/leave the vault for next season. Let's start with who is out of tokens at the moment:
Beast (Classic) Black Panther (T'Challa) Blade (DayWalker) Captain Marvel (Modern) Colossus (Classic) Deadpool (It's Me, Deadpool!) Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius) Falcon (Mighty Avenger) Psylocke (Classic) Rocket & Groot (Most Wanted) Sentry (Dark Avengers) She-Hulk (Modern) Spider-Man (Classic) Storm (Mohawk) The Hood (Classic) Wolverine (Patch)
With the reworks of She-Hulk, Beast and Dr Octopus it seems reasonable all three should come back into rotation. Add in Quicksilver and Kingpin as new additions and there may not be room for anyone else to leave the vault at the moment.

Now, for the far more interesting question of who might go! Currently in the tokens are:
Black Widow (Grey Suit) Captain America (Steve Rogers) Cyclops (Uncanny X-Men) Daken (Classic) Daredevil (Man Without Fear) Doctor Doom (Classic) Gamora (Guardians of the Galaxy) Hulk (Indestructible) Human Torch (Classic) Iron Fist (Immortal Weapon) Iron Man (Model 40) Kamala Khan (Ms Marvel) Loki (Dark Reign) Luke Cage (Hero for Hire) Magneto (Classic) Mystique (Raven Darkholme) Punisher (Dark Reign) Ragnarok (Dark Avengers) Squirrel Girl (Unbeatable) Thor (Modern)
At least 4 characters need to be cleared out. I'm fairly sure Mystique and Gamora will get the boot as I think they are the oldest characters that haven't already been vaulted. I think the next character after that may be Luke Cage, but it's equally possible they go for someone who has already been vaulted once - I suppose Punisher would be next in line there.

So, when it all comes down to it I have no freaking idea who might go. icon_e_smile.gif Who do you think it will be?

mystique and gamora seem almost certain.

doom and or loki? not sure they would do both at the same time.

daredevil would be my last guess.

its unfortunate that so many characters will stay in the vault for such a long time (colossus, psylocke, bp), this silly system has to go. are they really going to reach the point where there are more guys in the vault than out???

At this point the more characters are vaulted the better. It began as 'wait to have chance to obtain this few select heroes' but now it's more like 'wait for heroes you don't want to get filtered out'. DDQ goes on it's own. There is limited amount of time/rewards to give out in season so unvaulting wouldn't make difference. It's only matters if you want to save tokens and it actually works better that way. Would you rather have to wait/stockpile for couple months or be able to do it immidiately but have only HALF or less chance to get the one hero you need? In fact, the fewer characters are in rotation compared to entire lineup, the better waiting for vault to switch becomes.

What they need is 3*-4* only tokens that include everyone in those classes. Maybe give out 1 per PVE event or something.

yes, further the pve progression past the essential cover to a platinum token that would be a little more difficult to achieve. that would be a welcome improvement.

The vault system is an imperfect solution to their situation, but it is a solution and short of giving players more control over what "pools" they draw from, it's probably the best they have with the current layout. Speaking for myself, I've maxxed covered a lot of characters, so the number of covers I get from tokens is a thin trickle at best. I've set up a spreadsheet to know when to maximize my chances to pull something needed, but my chances aren't great. I imagine many players have or will hit that point at one stage or another.

I think the system will work well if they have a healthy number of characters cycle in and out every season. I think the number they have been doing in the past has been a little low, I think I would make it as much as seven or ten characters in or out each season - this way noone stays out too long and the players will have the best opportunity to go for the characters they want and/or need. The same is true for the Featured PVPs, they really should make more effort to get all the characters show up a decent amount of times. A single character going for six months without a PVP is pretty awful. I'm looking at you, T'Challa.

Anyway, the upshot is that the vaulting system has a minimal hindrance on the 2* -> 3* transition. There are only 10 PVPs in a season anyway - add in the 2 "out of season" PVPs and somewhere between 4 and 7 PVEs - only so many characters will be awarded - probably a bit over half the characters that aren't vaulted. The vault has a low impact - it is the sheer number of characters that is the worst hindrance.

Oh, and as far as who, I think that Mystique and Gamora are going in, the rest will probably be return visitors like the Hulk or PunPun. Luke Cage may go in, but it's been a bit since they gave us a PVP for him so I think that's hardly fair.
