Since everyone's shielding now, and I saw that people were wondering how you find people so fast, i''ll do a little reveal:

If you nonstop skip, right after the win, but before points post, the attacker will pop up for a regular attack, you can then come out of that match and have a nice retaliation waiting for you.

Also, if they aren't waiting and are in a match the double attack sometimes doesn't que x2 retaliations for them.

I think this was a huge part of the confusion around your success, at least for me! Thanks so much for sharing. I think that strategy only works for PC - I play entirely on iPhone and my points are already posted by the time I'm able to start looking for new opponents. That, along with the faster animations, skips, and control scheme means a definite advantage for a strong player like you on that platform.

Like walkyourpath said I don't think that strategy is even possible on a mobile device. Also, I hate to say it, but it seems a bit exploitative. I'm not calling you a cheater by doing this, but it seems like it wasn't intended to work that way.

the second really bad thing about this, is the point totals of the person used to calculate the reward,

so the first normal attack is against say a 1000 pt opp,
then the retaliation still counts as if his point total was 1000, even after you just took points from him.

so last night for example
#5 on leader board unshields, I have him in que.

unshield
attack
wait constantly refreshing to see if he'll take the bait
he pops up suddenly in que= he took it
x2 attack, get to rocket up instead of grinding 9-10 pt matches.

Previous reports were about attacks like this 3 times, not "just" 2. Can one caught like that on multiple buttons? Or how that could work out?

peoples recollections of events can get a bit hazy, kind of like how a person who is a witness, telling the truth, can easily get variations in their story.

the only other thing that I could add is, if you load them into the right point of the triangle, their retaliation will sometimes load on the left separate to the regular attack. That way you can save x2 attacks for later, and that retaliation node can stack if they are the only ones attacking you.

I can't repeat this bug though, nor can I repeat conditions for retaliation stacking/stack loss
